Well, during our first championship, under Shaq and Kobe in 1999-2000, I had more trust in Ron Harper and Brian Shaw down the stretch than either Glen Rice or Devean George. I may have the same feeling about Dudley vs Kuzma this year.
Glen Rice gets a bad rap sometimes. He was like 40% from 3 during our playoff run that year. I'd love it if Kuz could manage to get to that level this postseason.
The Glenn Rice hate lives on. It's like PJ is on LG. We don't get the party started without Glenn Rice. Also screwing Glenn Rice on his promised deal caused West to resign. It may have been the right choice for Buss (becaue of PJ) but it was still bs. He was instrumental in 2000. He could hit threes and get Shaq the ball whenever he wanted (often.) The Lakers were dominant in 2000, and Rice was a big reason why.
It’s hate, but real hate. Kuz was great in the first half but faded when the pressure was on. Dudley (and Vogel) won this game for us without wearing out LeBron. I’d still take Dudley in the playoffs over Kuz at this point, just like I would take Shaw and Harper over Rice back in the days.
What pressure for Kuz? Nothing was needed past midway through the third. But perhaps you should review Glenn Rice's numbers in 2000:

And other people outside the Laker fanbase was dissing Dudley as to why we got him instead of Melo....like are u serious??? Duds is twice the defender Melo is and can shoot just as well.

Dudley has been great for the Lakers. Fulfilling his role perfectly. I like how he doesn't play for weeks, then comes in and hits open 3's and plays good d. Championship teams need players like that on the end of the bench.
He is always ready to play, which is key for young players to see, too.
Mean mug be looking like he's gonna eat a can of Spinach
And kick some ass
I think the dude looks like a chill guy. He’s tough no doubt but imo he looks like a sweet goofy dude. W/respect I think he’s great and he’s a super cool dude when it comes to Laker fans. But if he growled at me I would probably give him a hug. _________________ "a new level of asinine intellectual dishonesty that has rarely been witnessed here."
This was no-lie, one of my favorite signings this summer.
I've always raved about his team chemistry magic. Giannis also loved him on the Bucks. Just saying. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

His signing is yet more evidence that you win with vets. I know that one of these games, Dudley is going to go 0-4 from deep and get beaten on D a bunch and people will be screaming for THT or Cacok to replace him, but that's not what we need this year. We need health from the big guns and everyone else to play smart and tough and together.

Dudley not only can knock down a three while cold off the bench, he's pretty much mistake free
“... first thing I say to him, don’t worry about how many points you average ... that’s where you think your success is. ... don’t worry about your points per game. ... let’s worry about your identity on this team. Yes, we need you to score.
We also need to you to shoot the right type of shots. Because you’re not playing on a bad young team anymore ... we need your defense to improve ... positioning basketball ... stop trying to go for blocks. Stop reaching. ... Keep in front. Use your length. ...”
Jared added that he wants Kuzma to go thru the good and the bad in games now so come June, if they need Kyle to make the right pass or shot, he’s ready for it.
On if he’s surprised at their early success:
“I’m surprised. ... I don’t think our record would be this good this early. I thought we would be more of a second half team.”
On the difference between this team and the others he’s been on:
“Different in the sense that our best players is our best leaders. That’s not always the case.” Dudley specified that both LeBron James and Anthony Davis not only lead on the floor but off of it as well.
On the team’s chemistry:
“For one, it’s so much fun. I can’t even lie to you. I’m having the time of my life ... you can’t teach chemistry. You can’t teach that. That’s something you have or you don’t have. The guys get along.” Jared expounded that head coach Frank Vogel “does a phonemanal job of when to push and when to back off ...” and “that’s why I think you got to give [Rob] Pelinka credit putting these right people. Guys that know who they are as a person and as a player, so when you’re on the floor, there’s no identity crisis. And that’s one thing that we have, we have an identity.”

Thank you for this post.
We need more positivity in the world like this
