Seriously man whoever owns the site domain and web hosting of LG.

It's time to get LG website and forums out of the dark ages.

DB said last summer that he could either do that or update the servers. He felt that needed to be done first before the incoming of Lebron. Next up, saving our eyes while on smart phones. lol

I agree with that and would happily donate. I remember there being some kind of donation set up for the server upgrades.

I'm all for it. Tracking and notifications.... For replies, being able to @ folks. We have massive threads, and lots of them. It becomes a search chore to find out if someone replied to you.

Having a mobile friendly version would be great. I don't care for having to post media and all. That is, for many forums, a moderating nightmare. But there are many social features that the forum could use to enhance discussion and community.

I'm happy about not having embedded GIFs and memes. Some sites are unreadable and unbearable b/c of it. Plus the profanity and stuff.

But to add to my comment earlier... another "social" feature is having notifications when you get quoted so that you can track who to respond to if you wanted to.

Edit: and for what its worth, if this board were just to upgrade to the latest phpBB, it is compatible with PHP7 which should be faster and and more efficient... or so I've read.

For me it would be to switch to something like XenForo. Much more modern forum software that phpbb with a great mobile view, better search and social features that all the kids enjoy

Even the newest versions of phpbb look like they were designed in 1998.

This forum has been one of the best things about the internet for a long time. Let's not mess with it. Lots of other places you can go if you need a different experience.

I’d be happy to not only donate but also donate my expertise in terms of site design if an upgrade is desired.

Can’t do the dev work (coding) but Im happy to help with or do the design part to modernize the look and feel, as well as overall marketing strategy stuff like how can we generate some revenue to help maintain the experience here.

Doubt they’d mention it but wonder what the cost is currently and what we need to get to in order to minimize or eliminate down time.
