Kawhi Leonard
Paul George
Yao Ming
(Jonathan Bender)
Charles Barkley
David Robinson (yes, that was a thing)

Who else is on the list of players that Lakers fans believed we were going to acquire whether through the draft, trade, or FA, only to see it never come to fruition?

(And this doesn’t count getting guys like Malone, Richmond, etc, who finally showed up on their last leg to ring chase).

Losing him was the real earthquake.

Still recovering from that.

McHale with the assist to Ainge on that one. Didn't even demand Rondo back in return.

This league has always been full of snakes.

Long before Gasol was acquired, the Lakers had this theoretical "2008" (I may be off by a year) plan that involved clearing cap space for Yao Ming.

Lebron's name was often thrown in around that time, too.

This waiting for an FA to sign has gotten old, which is why many of us don't care that we traded the farm for AD.

There's still a lot of guys we targeted for a while that I'm glad we didn't get. Jermaine O'Neal, Amare Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, LaMarcus Aldridge, even Yao Ming, all got old and fell off the planet pretty quickly. I guess Yao and Amare weren't old, but injuries did them in anyway. Also glad we didn't trade Bynum for Jason Kidd.
