I agree and if either AD or LeBron get hurt, we could unbelievably miss the playoffs entirely yet again.

That is an appropriate amount for KCP. I believe league average salary is around $9M. Plus he only took 2 years at 26 years old. It's weird how people think he's some scrub who can't play. He's a decent backup. If he can get back to that 38% from 3 then he'll outplay his contract.

FT shooting should be better too.

Kuzma is key. If he continues to develop and plays better defense, we may have had our ‘big 3’ all along. Guy has been good his first couple years and in year 3 I believe he takes another step in becoming more of a complete player

Do your thang, Kuz! This is your time.

Cook
Daniels/Pope/Norvell/Tucker-Horton
Green/Dudley
Lebron/Kuzma
Davis/McGee

11 guys (2 of them are rookies)
Only one PG so far and he is more a shooter than a playmaker
Hopefully we still got some guys coming

LBJ might have to do a lot of the play making

Pope
Green
LBJ
AD
Javale
on defense would be nice to watch. AD and Javale are two of the beat shot blockers who can sprint the floor and move their feet quilckly with Pope and Green chasing guys on the permiter and LBJ playing the passing lanes.

You can say that about every other team in the league.

I think people are too pessimistic

What if I present it like this:
LBJ - one of 5 best players in the league
AD - One of 5 best players in the league
Kuzma - Young rising player. He was 20p scorer last year
Green - two time champion and 45% for 3's
McGee - best year of his career is behind him
KCP - biggest problem and I do not like him but he can produce something
Cook - 2 times champion 40% for 3's
Dudley - good old veteran 40 % for 3's
Daniels - good shooter with more than 40% for three

We already have 4 guys shooting more than 40% for 3's and cap space to sign more veteran player. Dont listen to ESPN or other media. They are trying to show how Lakers are screwed …...but you know what we have 2 players in top5. There is no other team in the league with that. Just a fact.

Sure, but LeBron turns 35 this season.

First off, for the most part, I never thought Kawhi was going to sign here, I HOPED he would, so I am not totally disappointed to see him sign with the Clippers.

Now, I have never been a Clippers fan and hated Sterling, Balmer is not the buffoon that Sterling was, so you can't fault him for wanting to win.

I am probably in the minority here, but I am not unhappy with the Clippers getting Kawhi and George, to get George, they gave up their two BEST players and 5 First Round draft picks - that is MORE than what the Lakers gave up to get Davis.

The Clippers only have about 6 guys on the Roster PLUS Kawhi and George, so they are just as thin if not more so than the Lakers in trying to fill-out their lineup.

Also, maybe this is not a huge thing but Kawhi and George are BOTH SF's, this might be an issue matching up against some teams in the NBA.

So basically the Thunder will drop out of the playoffs and the Clippers become stronger, but I am not willing to say they will be better than the Lakers...

The Lakers need to try to sign Cousins and Rondo and these guys will greatly help the Clippers and would do the same for the Lakers.

Just need a few more guys (in bold):

Rondo/Cook/Daniels/Caruso
Green/KCP/
Lebron/Dudley
Davis/Kuzma/Morris
Mcgee/Williams/Cousins

That is a team that will give every team in the NBA major problems..

At any rate the Lakers will be MUCH better than last year and will be in the Playoffs for sure...

I'm just glad the Kawhi watch is over and we can move on and wish we had not waited for him and could have got some of the FA's before they were all gobbled up...

Kawhi has a degenerative quad condition and took off 20+ games last year while limping in the Finals. Add Paul George's recent injuries, there are a lot of unknown variables on both sides.

AD is only 26.

#2 played only 60 games this season and led his team to a championship.

We're building a team that is going to fit well around LeBron. Solid role players - shooters. We had none of that last year. "MUH PRECIOUS YOUTH" couldn't hit the ocean with a basketball. We've got some shooters on this team and we're adding more. That's all LeBron needs.

Not in love with KCP being back but in a summer where Reggie Bullock got $10M, Jeremy Lamb got $11M - KCP getting $8M sounds more than fair.

Not front runners.
However we will be a playoff team.

There was no assurance last season we would be there.
I think barring Lebron missing half the season, and Davis missing time during that same stretch, which can be said of the Clippers too if their top 2 guys miss time like that, barring major injuries like that, this team should be at 50 wins, and in contention. More than that, really depends on come playoff time how AD is playing, how Lebron is playing, how players like Danny Green, Kuzma are shooting and scoring the ball off the 2 superstars. How we defend.

I do think we should be excited that we have a Laker playoff team again. The last time was so long ago. We can go into a season actually looking at the playoffs and looking at how to make small trades or moves that can assist us in matchups in the playoffs.

Great post, I agree and am glad that the Lakers are no longer the top Vegas pick to win the championship, they don't need that kind of pressure!

I fail to see the logic in trying up all that cap space money on the SG position (Green and KCP) better to get Cousins and/or Morris instead of KCP...

I'd feel a lot better with Rondo at the PG and Cousins - trying to rehab and prove everyone wrong (again) and even Morris for some front court depth...!

Lakers can reset in 2yrs for Giannis. Wash, rinse, and repeat. Lakers will be OK. Lakers tried and it didn't work but Lakers will be OK.
