So Kawhi went to the Clippers. The story is still unfolding, and we've heard a lot. Given what we know now, why did Kawhi choose not to come to the Lakers?

He didn't want to be here. He's the only one to blame.

So Paul George and Kawhi didn't want to be here. Why? That seems like a problem.

The Lakers were never a legitimate option. We were just leverage for KL to get what he wanted.

Woj said this morning Kawhi would be a Laker today if the Clips couldn't or wouldn't trade for PG. I believe him.

Because unlike KD, they didn't want to win and contend on what is perceived as riding coattails. If both Kawhi and PG won rings here, they both know that LBJ would have received 90% of the praise.

Most of these elite level NBA players are alphas, some just aren't willing to play in a team where they're going to be perceived just like KD.

Being completely anti super-team, I actually appreciate the decisions they both made. Makes me think there is still some semblance of competitive spirit in this league, and it isn't just players making it the WWE (even if it's selling).

If there is blame to dish out, it's the FOs inability to get KL to commit one way or the other quickly (even if out of just respect) so as to not handcuff us like he did. Then again, if I'm KL and my intentions were to play for the Clippers instead, why wouldn't I "hurt" my soon to be division rivals.

Well played KL, well played.

It also didn't help that Chris Brousard, Shannon Sharpe and Nick Wright were on TV every day saying that Kawhi is 90% coming to the Lakers.

Jeanie/Magic 100%

You do not let West go to the cross-town competitors.

You don’t move Tobias Harris unless you have a real good idea Kawhi is coming. All the crumbs were clear, in hindsight of course.

Kawhi didn’t come here because the front office is a dumpster fire.

In the end he didn't want to be a Laker for understandable reasons. Magic trashing Jeanie & Pelinka, then Magic leaked details of their conversation, & Kawhi wasn't super enthusiastic about being a LeBron puppet. All this made it clear--> Clippers. Change any of those things, maybe he is a Laker. Magic shouldn't have been allowed to even meet with Kawhi!!!

You guys are missing the mark. There are understandable reasons he didn't become a Laker: Magic trashing Jeanie & Pelinka, then Magic leaked details of their conversation, & Kawhi wasn't super enthusiastic about being a LeBron puppet. Maybe he found LeBron & Klutch's manipulations to be annoying? All this made it clear--> Clippers.

Yeah, that doesn’t mean anything, if OKC asked for 7 first round picks, LAC will have to agree as well because ballmer is an idiot that just want to screw the lakers

I disagree. There's a reason that KL kept putting off "making his decision." He didn't want to be a Laker and did everything in his power not to be.

It's even more evident that he didn't want to be here because he kept reaching out to other star players trying to get them to come play with him somewhere else.

Kawhi didn’t originally want to be here it was always Clippers. He’s a LaMarcus Aldridge, a Paul George, a Dwight Howard. He’s not a Jordan, he’s not a Kobe, he’s not a Shaq. He will lose as a Clipper while taking off 20+ games a year and still being injured through the postseason.

well at least Magic was constantly calling or trying to tell Kawhi what he thinks about the Lakers.

next Magic will appear on First Take again and explain to us again why he thinks Jeannie and Rob suck and to say "I told you so"

yeah because Magic is "helping"

honestly I think it would've absolutely crushed Magic had Kawhi signed here. But dont worry it will still crush Magic when Lebron wins the title here next year and maybe 3 peats. I will roll with Danny Green that is solid, might possibly be a better fit. Kawhi will probably regret being stuck on the Clippers and PG always wants to be somewhere else. See you on the court

Why are fans so entitled? Last year with PG, this year with Kawhi. The Lakers do not own these guys.

No one is to blame here. The FO went all in, but it didn't work out. It was a good move. You had to do it. Kawhi negotiated his way by using three teams in order to get what he wanted. The Lakers were his backup plan. That's what happens in business.

You take a L and move on. The Lakers are a great team. Kawhi did nothing wrong.
