Not the max but what's the most we can give him per year?

Probably the MLE, which if I'm not mistaken is around 10mil?

Bard, does 1 yr MLE next year get us his bird right for max over cap the summer after?

No. Early Bird exception. He would qualify after playing two seasons with the Lakers. Using this exception, the Lakers could re-sign Boogie for either 175% of his salary the previous season, or the NBA's average salary, whichever is greater. Early Bird contracts must be for at least two seasons, but can last no longer than four seasons. If a team agrees to a trade that would make a player lose his Early Bird Rights, he has the power to veto the trade.

So max we can give Boogie is $10m next season and contract starting at $17.5m the season after. We'll see I guess, might commensurate with his production

Man he looks thin. This is great news and really what he needed to do. Less strain on his big frame.

We will have cap space the year after next so we can do MLE and near a max if he is really good by 2021. Let's see how he does 1st. Lol

If we sign him on the MLE next season, what is his cap hold in 2021? I'm asking because if we go for a guy like Beal or Dipo, would we still be able to re-sign Boogie?
We would also have to account for Kuz's cap hold as he will be an RFA. Lebron opting out and re-signing for less than the max would definitely alleviate some of this cap issue though.

What are our options for re-signing him next summer? If he proves himself to be an effective third option, retaining him may be difficult. I thought since he signed for such a low amount of money, there's only so high we can go with a contract next year as an over-the-cap team?

One of the things that I think is getting lost regarding Boogie is just how good a passer he is. In 2017-18 he was 21st in the league in assists, second among Centers at 5.4, behind only Jokic at 6.1. Last year he was at 3.6 in only 25 mpg. At some point he was effectively Point-Center for Sacramento.

Put him on the floor with LeBron, AD and a bunch of shooters and your going to see him drop some dimes. That's why I ultimately have him in my starting lineup if I'm the Lakers. Maybe JaVale starts to begin the season. But at some point it should be Boogie.

Man, that Boogie/AD pick and roll is viscous.

We are going to get opponents in foul trouble with our front line and it's going to benefit the whole team because we can actually shoot free throws this upcoming season.

I'm hyped about Boogie.

He's our starting center and closing center in my eyes until proven otherwise.

How did he lose to much weight in a month? Do we know if he is already hitting the facility with all of his teammates.

Holy crap he really looks super thin man! I think it's going to very well! Only worry, if you would even call it that, is how are we gonna retain him next summer!?

Boogie is actually a good high post initiator. He would of been perfect in the triangle. What is Vogel's offense scheme going to be like? DMC was great in the high post feeding to cutters.

I heard (on Mason & Ireland) that Boogie has turned vegan and lost 20 lbs..

They also mentioned a fun stat: In the history of the NBA there have been 19 big-men who've averaged 20/10. Of those, 17 are in the hall-of-fame. The remaining two? AD & Boogie! Chew on that!!

I bet he has been at it longer than we think; IME some people’s faces don’t look skinnier until they hit a body fat threshold. They can be losing weight but not show it there until the end.

I fully expect it to be a one year romance, but will really be rooting hard for him to succeed (even it means he leaves for a bigger payday somewhere else).

I'm almost finished with his Showtime documentary and it's a good watch.

Probably true. He looks at least 20 pounds lighter on just his face and upper torso. He didn't look like that in the playoffs.

Nope to the question.

Lot of people asking about Boogie looking slim.... no doubt 💯% it was the first thing I noticed.... lean and in shape... I know some peops in his camp, former point guard of mine, told me he’s been grinding and is motivated big time.... Big year for Boogie
