I wonder who that means...

Unfortunately Dwight has always known how to say the right things.

Yeah. People who just casually say he's washed didn't watch him on the Grizz. He was a very solid player. We're not looking for a starter; just someone who can play 12-14mpg. He can do that.

I just watched highlights and he actually doesn't looked washed athletically, either. And his toughness, confidence, energy might help this teams personality on the court

Such horrible options the Lakers are forced to consider!

Absolute hindsight issue but it pisses me off that the Lakers could have very easily had nice center depth by signing Cauley-Stein and kept Wagner for end of the bench potential.

WCS wasn't signing here to split minutes with Boog and Javele. One of WCS or Javele wouldn't be here.. to be 3rd string..

I would not have signed Cousins in the first place. Not related to his current unfortunate injury.

Anyone have thoughts on Tyler Zeller? He is still available from what I am seeing. Every team should have a Zeller, Plumlee or Lopez.

Some of these center options are 10-15 mpg options at this stage of their careers. I would prefer they can play 20+ mpg to split with McGee. Centers will need to play significant mpg. Especially on those nights Davis takes off or has minor injuries that reduce his playing time he seems to always have.

Center impact and contribution needs to be more then an afterthought IMO

His history with the Lakers informs like 5% of my opinion. That block rate and footage of him on the Wizards is more concerning. And the 2nd back surgery only compounds it. I would personally not be opposed to signing Dwight even from 2 years ago. But this version is done.

"Sources: Lakers planning individual workouts"

I hadn't considered that, I thought Rob/Lebron were just going to TALK to Dwight, like over a dinner. Is Dwight's ego too big to come in for a workout? Is it beneath him? That might be the self un-selecting process right there if Dwight refuses to do a workout.

Curious how you envision the mpg breakdown for centers next season?

-McGee was 22mpg last year (most in 8 years) so best case maybe push it to 24mpg at most. Can he sustain that the entire season? What if he misses 10 games?

-Noah or other older vets- 15mpg?

- Who is playing that other 9mpg (or most likely more)? Davis?

Lakers are in a tough situation. Not sure i see any easy solutions. They don;t need a low contribution player, they need a solid backup capable of giving them 20+mpg on a nightly basis.

Absolutely AD. Finish halves. He will be our center in closing lineups.

Kurt: Noah did me wrong on the Knicks.
Jeanie: Dwight didn't #stay.

So...

He played 9 games with WAS. Cmon now I hate Dwight too but using that as the sample size is disingenuous. The real question is his health and most of all attitude. Talent wise he can still put up 15/11/2 when healthy. His season in Charlotte was really good

I really don’t get how signing him is an issue. It doesn’t affect us in any negative way other than the media spin, lack of production which is easily remedied by not being on the floor, and if he acts up, then just releasing him.

The benefits outweigh the negatives. And at a low cost.

Truly hoping he is healthy and won’t have an issue with his role.

I see this similar to Cousins deal. Low risk, high upside. There are differences through as Cousins has a 3 pointer but overall concepts is similar. And cousins deal might be consider more risk because an injury to Cousins midseason or after trade deadline could costs big. And the risk of big injury to Dwight is less than Cousins. And we would know fairly quick if his attitude has negative effects on the team so we wouldn’t be struck in the water if things went bad.

So it’s possible that Cousins injury so early could be the best “bad Luck” the Lakers had. And the signing of Dwight could be the best “mistake” the Lakers have ever made.
