As much as I love Jerry West for what he did in the past there has always been talk how he has a huge ego, massive mood swings and isn't the easiest to get along with so it goes both ways.. Why do organizations keep letting him go after awhile (I know he at some point said he would have stayed with both the Lakers and Warriors if he was not basically forced out) if he is this mythical unicorn god like front office figure? I have no doubt he gets along with the Clippers front office much more then any other franchise in the past because he's simply just a part time consultant. No doubt he is still a great asset to have on your side but people are going a little overboard with how much credit they give him imo.

You sir, are just not giving him enough.

I feel like we've had this same thread at every stop Jerry West has made. He literally says this about every team he works for.

I agree. For me . . .

The organization that will pay me the most for carrying the least responsibility is the best organization I have ever worked for.

Jerry, I love you, but you're usually not this transparent.

Remember the time when Shaq said Riley's the best coach he ever played for at the Heat championship parade? He stuck it to Phil and it even caught the zenmaster off guard. Years later when he had a chance to reflect on his career, he had high praise for Phil again.

Jerry West's been with the Clippers for all of 2 years, they haven't been through all the thick and thin that eventually grows and/or burns relationships. Eventually it'll be the Lakers, Grizzlies, Warriors all over again. At some point he may feel his advice is once again falling on deaf ears and will move on feeling underappreciated. If he doesn't retire, he may once again seek refuge in a place where people are receptive to his message.

QUESTION: Who's the best employer you've ever had?

ANSWER (BY ANYONE WITH SENSE): The current one.

This is literally what I teach the folks I mentor in my profession.

Unless there was some tricky editing done on the clip, this question was not asked. The information was offered up by Jerry West. It didn't seem like he needed to make the claim but he decided to do it anyway. Either he truly feels this way or it was a shot fired directly across the hall.

I'm not mad about it but it didn't seem like he was backed into a corner the way the quoted post above portrays it.

Also he's a legend both on and off the court. The rules don't apply to him. He's earned the right to say whatever the hell he wants.

After a while?

After retiring as a player, he was with the Lakers for 20 years, Memphis for 7 years, and the Warriors for 6 years. He has team and personal success at each stop.

The job was done. There is no point for him to stick around if he's not the GM. He's a turnaround specialist and he's good at what he does.

This exactly. Not fussed - what else are we expecting him to say. Ballmer writes his bonus check, end of story.

Can somebody find Blake Griffin to ask him how he feels about clippers organization? I’m more interested in his take. I know Jerry is trying to build good reputation for his current employer, but come on accomplishing something relevant before gloating.

Better than his tenure with Jerry Buss? (Not to mention GS) I don’t think it’s even close.

Sour grapes for being passed over by Jeannie (she should’ve brought him in btw)

Overrated coach who should have won more Chips with the big 3 he had.

Got a team with no stars into the playoffs. Just getting Gallo to play defense is worthy of praise.

Doc did well with last year's Clipper team. But are we just going to give a pass for the "lob city" years that didn't net any big accomplishments despite having stars?

Can't just be "sour grapes" over Jeanie not bringing him back since the Lakers aren't the only other franchise he's worked for, as you irononically mentioned.
