All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Damn. He had a great little string of movies in the 80's-90's. Was a great villain and while not a classically great actor, had wonderful screen presence.

Damn. An iconic face in that certain period of cinema. RIP.

My goodness, I had forgotten that he played Lothos, the vampire villain in Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Had a lot of memorable credits. Even won a Golden Globe, which I wasn't aware of. RIP.

He played Wulfgar in Nighthawks. In my book, Wulfgar is up there with Hans Gruber at the top of the list of great movie villains.

I enjoyed him immensely in Blade Runner, but Ladyhawke, Flesh and Blood, The Hitcher, and Wanted Dead Or Alive (an underrated if formulaic action flick) over a period of two years in the mid 80s was where he really hit his stride.

Right on. Folks should seek all of those movies out along with his collaborations with Paul Veerhoven in the 70s and 80s (including the great, visceral, underrated Flesh and Blood).

He gave such thoughtful, kind interviews. This isn't anything extraordinary from him, but it's still rare to get interviews from actors who are so self-aware, humble, and knowledgeable about their craft and the industry: AVClub interview (2011)

Flesh and Blood and Ladyhawke are almost exact opposite sides of a single coin.

Can't remember the name of it but my favorite Hauer flick was one that came on HBO the early 90s. He escaped a prison that had no walls, but each prisoner wore an electronic necklace which would explode if he or the prisoner wearing the necklace paired with his own exceeded a maximum distance from one another.
