It'll also be interesting once Zo/BI go from rookie deals to being paid $20m+ a year too. The expectation knives will sharpen. |
Will Ingram and Zo be $20m+/yr players? Teams aren't handing a lot of those contracts out to guys coming off rookie contracts lately. The list of $20m+ players from the last three draft classes entering free-agency is pretty small.
2014: Wiggins, Embiid, Gordon, and Jokic. Lavine is close @ $19m/yr
2015: Towns, DLo, Porzingis, Booker. Turner is close @ $18m/yr
2016: Simmons, Murray, Brogdon _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

I can see BI getting Brogdon money. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

BI showed flashes of being an all-star when the offense ran through him. If he stays healthy I think he'll get a big pay day.
Lonzo is a guy I wanted to keep because I think he'll be undervalued. I think he'll be in that $13-15M range, similar to Beverly. If he develops even a league-average jumpshot he will far outplay that contract. The way he rebounds and controls pace is underrated. |

The question will be whether BI can continue having the offense run through him on a Pels team where a lot of mouths want to be fed. I agree that's where he looked the best.
Zo, I think he'll get more than 13-15m.
But this is something that is surprising when you see top draft picks re-up or the teams just walk away from them (or trade them) b/c the price is too high. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |
