The NCAA has amended its certification process for agents representing basketball players who are deciding whether to stay in school or explore the NBA draft and will no longer require them to have a bachelor's degree.

Instead, agents who don't have a bachelor's degree will have to be in good standing with the NBA Players Association.

"We are committed to providing student-athletes who are deciding whether to stay in school or explore NBA draft options with access to a wide array of resources to make their decision," the NCAA said in a statement on Monday.

"NCAA member schools developed the new agent certification process to accomplish that goal and reflect our higher education mission. However, we have been made aware of several current agents who have appropriately represented former student-athletes in their professional quest and whom the National Basketball Players Association has granted waivers of its bachelor's degree requirement."

I honestly did not understand this on two fronts.....

1.) Educational requirements are part of most professions, and are often somewhat arbitrary. For decades, all 50 states allowed people with bachelors degrees in accounting take the CPA exam....then about a decade ago, they changed the requirements to a Masters Degree (or 150 hours). The reasons given were similar to the NCAA claims....improved ability to serve a client. If we are being honest, Rich Paul has to employ/contract attorneys to assist him because he simply is not educated in contract law.

2.) This rule likely would have had 0% impact on Rich Paul because the type of clients it is dealing with....fringe draftable players.....are not or have not been Rich Paul type of clients.
