I miss JD who used to be a mod here. He was lethal with the ban hammer, but a knowledgeable dude.

There are a lot of off the court personal reasons why i wouldn't want Dwight but, if we are talking strictly basketball, he is the one we should sign. Noah would be second on my list but Dwight brings an element to out team, to go with AD and Javale, our paint be the most protected in the entire league. Dwight, for all of his foolishness and clown behavior, he can still protect the rim and rebound. That is all we would need from him.

Can he still play? He missed 73 games last season.

If he is not healthy, all bets are off. I'm basing this on all players being healthy.

Video is mostly positive about him and doesn’t say enough about his weaknesses but it’s still interesting IMO.

Can DWIGHT HOWARD Still Play In The NBA?

Sounds like just one of the 3 working out tomorrow. Not all 3. That's how I read it.

Lakers completed workouts and meetings with Dwight Howard and Joakim Noah on Thursday and have Mo Speights at the team’s facility today, league sources tell ESPN. Both Howard and Noah left impressions that they could be helpful to the team.

Hope we get Noah.

But if we get Dwight, have to pray they did their due diligence on Dwight by asking lots of questions with Kobe sitting in the room adjacent to the interrogation room.

It is possible that the Lakers sign both Noah and Dwight and waive someone?

I hear that McGee only averaged 28 minutes last year and perhaps Lakers prefer to have 2 backups

I don't think both Noah/Dwight want to be here with one being the 3rd center.

I hear you, but I don't think venturalakersfan is one of those -- he has a very high post count.

Noah is really washed up, done. DH is a difficult assessment because theoretically he could help but his attitude, to date, has sucked.

picking from done and terrible is something...

REALLY hoping Speights impresses the bejeesus out of the FO and coaching staff today.

Even if it's only for 15-20 minutes a game, a combo F-C who's 6-10 with a 7-3 wingspan and can hit 37% on 3s while chipping in 8 and 4 a night (like his last full year in the league, while with the Clips) would be a godsend.

What do we think about his defense? That's the main drawback I'm hearing (I honestly can't recall watching him play with any detail).

despite his length he was a bad defender in his prime.. and post-prime it's likely... tough

Speights has had his workout. Lakers will meet later on to discuss everything, and decide whether to move forward with any of these players.

I've seen you assert this over and over without reviewing his really nice play as a role player last year. He was not washed up in his 40+ games with the Grizz. What is your basis for this?

Speights is a terrible defender. At least Noah/Dwight are plus to average players on that end.

If we decide to roll with Speights I would be excited, he can duplicate what Cousins was supposed to be which is a stretch big who can knock down the 3.

The biggest need from the center position is guarding opposing true centers for when we face Denver, Utah, Philly right?

Seems like the obvious choice is JarJar if he can still play.

Um no. He can't defend, score, or pass like Boogie. Not even close. Think of a more squat Channing Frye when he was on the Lakers toasted.
