One thing for sure. This guy loves being here in LA and i believe he will do all possible to pay back the Lakers Fans very well. One question is don't you think the Clippers would have given him the same deal if he wanted to go there? That tells you this guy wants to make it up to the Lakers.

The Clippers had no interest in him.

He is in insane shape. Now sure if anyone in the NBA looks as muscular as him right now. Whatever his intentions up to this point he has shown commitment to being in shape and yes I think deserves a “clean slate” till proven otherwise.

Thank you Lar.....I’m with you. The minute he screws up he knows he’s gone. But until then...hes committed, looks amazing...his jumping is amazing and most importantly we need him defensively in the biggest way to really succeed.

Hope to God Dwight remembers this fact. Either this truth stings for the rest of his career finally provoking positive change OR he drinks his own kool-aid when we experience a little success and falls back to his old annoying antics.

I'm hopeful that he can finally just focus on ball IF he can remember that NOBODY WANTED HIS ASSSSS.

Yep and if anyone recalls, Dwight inquired by joining the Lakers back in July and the answer was a “big no.” The Cousins injury changes that.

Fate? I don’t know. But I would love for Dwight to have a great year with the Lakers which will sort of be “sticking it” to the Clippers perhaps since they could be regreting saying no to him, which we know is in desperate need for a big man presence

Phil Jackson would put him in a room alone with monitors blaring all the negativity and doubters before every game. he would come bursting out of the locker room like the Kool Aid Man

Saw the video yesterday.. I hope he don't get tested... dude looks freakishly ripped..

He also probably wants to make it up to Lakers fans. He knows he screwed up in retrospect.

That, and his career has never been the same since. It's all a do over.

Doubtful that he cares about making it up to the fans.

Likelier that he wants to change the narrative about his career, rebrand himself, win a ring and maybe position himself better for life post-NBA. Clowning around in a TNT or ESPN studio is exactly the thing that would appeal to D39, but his reputation was shot. This is reinvention.

Well, if this Lakers team benefits from this reinvention, no matter how calculated it might be, then the experiment is a win-win.

I'm curious to see how long he can keep his attention span focused on doing the right thing for himself.

Kobe isn't going to publicly dump on Rob's signings, especially on a women's talk show

Dwight would like another shot at a ring, and signing on, back in LA with Lebron, Davis, and a pretty good supporting cast, who just happen to need another center....

Like a lot of things this offseason, I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. If we stay healthy, I think we got a good shot at making it at least to the conference finals. 55-60 wins with a healthy team.

It's a lot better than where we have been for like five years. A bunch of nice kids, high draft picks, playing pickup basketball, but a lot more bricks than swishes on anything outside the paint.

Wish we had a true point guard, wish we had been able to have landed either PG or KL, and worse they are both now with the Clippers. It can work out, it will take some luck, but better than a bunch of kids who can hardly find the basket or their butts, even if they use both hands....

If Dwight even plays to 70% of his potential ad and Dwight interior will be more devastating than Kawhi pg perimeter

Listen to the LFR podcast.

Dwight, as opposed to Boogie, presents a spacing issue due to his non-existent perimeter game. It's a valid concern for offense, especially if they play Rondo alongside him (so 2 non-shooters together).

Same issue as McGee. Not a big deal to me. I'm much more concerned with defense then offense and he brings defense at a much higher level than Boogie.

Sure. My point is we have JAV and Dwight now. Both same archetypal non-shooting, passing, spacing bigs on offense. That will be a problem Vogel will need to figure out. Having Boogie in theory was supposed to help ameliorate that for our center position.

Yep this is a valid concern even with Mcgee. I have heard suggestions of running the pick and roll with Lebron/Rondo & Dwight with AD on the perimeter. But we will see if the coaching staff can come up with a way to take care of this issue.

That s why also I think we will see a lineup of something like

Kuzma/Green/Bradley/Lebron/AD to end halves and games.

On offense yes...good points. I guess that's when you'll see AD at center and Kuz at the 4. What I like is that AD should demand doubles as well as will Bron which would open the middle for some lobs to Dwight or McGee.

I think both JAV and Dwight better be open to not closing any halves/games out. For Dwight, that's the kind of mental thing he has to accept and embrace. No pouting about not finishing, etc. Go all out for the minutes you're out there b/c he will likely play 50% of the minutes he's used to playing, so go all out in those minutes.

Here's insight into how well he embraced it the last time he was benched in the playoffs:

Quote:
Howard is not happy. The day after the Hawks were drop-kicked into the offseason by Washington, he used the word “pissed” three times to describe his feelings about the way both his and the team’s the season ended.

“It was very difficult,” Howard said Saturday. “I want to play. I want to be out on the floor. I want to make a difference. I want to make an impact, and I can’t do that on the bench.”

He denied suggestions that matchups should have anything to do with his reduced time. He denied season-long suspicions that he struggles in the Hawks’ ball-movement, pick-and-roll offense. Physically, he said he feels “amazing.” Mentally, that’s another story.

Quote:
“It hurts,” Howard said. “I’m sure if you wrote the best stories in the world and nobody read your stories and they told you to stop writing and you saw somebody else’s story that wasn’t as good as yours, I’m pretty sure you’d be pissed, too. That’s how it is in basketball.”

Okay...but also consider there will be games when the best line-up is Dwight, AD and Bron up front...It's a game to game thing...i.e. if AD is in foul trouble and they're playing Jokic or Embid...you will probably see Dwight finishing games like that.

Okay...but also consider there will be games when the best line-up is Dwight, AD and Bron up front...It's a game to game thing...i.e. if AD is in foul trouble and they're playing Jokic or Embid...you will probably see Dwight finishing games like that.

I would be shocked if we're finishing games with Dwight. Remember, he's also a horrific FT shooter.

So if Vogel finishes with say Rondo/Dwight, yeah we are so fracked.

Dwight will have to mentally prepare to sit out most games when it's closing time.

AD doesn't want to start at C, but he will likely finish games there. Kuz/LBJ/AD probably will be our closing frontcourt.
