You know the drill - you have 15 points to build your All-Time Laker Team. The tiers are set up like this:

5 points
Kobe, Magic, Shaq, Kareem, Logo

3 points
Wilt, Elgin, Worthy, LeBron, Pau

1 point
Fish, Goodrich, Byron, Coop, Wilkes

I grew up and revered Showtime, but if I were to use the "need to win one game to save my life" rule (like when I asked Kobe that at that LA Live thing a few years back), I'd go:

C - Shaq - Kareem always had trouble with bigger, thicker centers (Eaton/ Donaldson/ Malone) and Shaq could overpower him if given room to work and not double-teamed.
PF - LBJ - I know, I know, only a 1-year guy so far, but still a better outside shooter than anyone on that tier, and still a physical mismatch for any non-center.
SF - Coop - Was wiry and strong even in the 80s, with freakish athleticism. His outside shot (36% from 3 last 5 years of career) and Swiss Army knife game would still work today.
SG - Kobe - At their peak, both he and Shaq were throwing down 30 while Kobe was also going after guys on D.
PG - Fish - 2nd-most 3s for Lakers behind Kobe. Byron had more hops, but Fish was arguably more clutch and wouldn't disappear on the road (see the 2009 in Orlando and 2010 Finals in Boston, and compare to Byron in 1987 in Boston).

Who would you pick?

Wilt at 3 points is crazy good value.

For 2019 NBA:

Magic
Kobe
Byron
Coop
Wilt

(Magic is point forward)

Ma n that's a really good balanced team. Enough shooting, defense, inside presence for that team to be really dominant. Beside slebron, we can pretty much put in the peak version of each player with a 2016 lebron

That's what I figured. I'm still on the fence of having Byron instead of Fish, just because Fish was a little bit taller/ longer and was a better finisher. But by itself, the notion of having Kobe and Coop together getting after other teams on defense is just too much fun to imagine.

Sweet combo right there. The thing that gets me though is, who would guard Shaq? Now if you put Wilt there...

LeBron needs the ball in his hands way too much for a team that already has Kobe and Shaq. Pau would be the perfect fit next to The Diesel in that line up. Can hit the Horace Grant midrange and passes the ball beautifully.
Talk about Twin Towers, wow.

I'd try to get more points and build:

All in their prime:

PG: Magic Johnson
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Lebron James
PF: Robert Horry
C: Marc Gasol

I actually think Lakers Magic at 5 is a better value than Lakers Lebron at 3. I know you're losing Worthy and adding (probably) B. Scott instead. But I still think it's worth it.

But I'm ready for Bron to make me eat my words this season.

I think we have some big game playoff performer with that lineup (Kobe, Worthy and LBJ). All are versitile and skilled and can shoot from the outside. Any center against Shaq in his prime is no match strength wise, but Gasol is very versitile and can pull Shaq away from the basket. And with Shaq not guarding the paint, Kobe, LBJ and Big Game can feast.

I admit I did not read the OP's post in regards to points per player. I went off the title only.

Here is my team with the points cap:

Lebron James (3)
Kobe Bryant (5)
Michael Cooper (1)
Jamaal Wilkes (1)
Shaq O'Neal (5)
