LA is a city full of transplants so I'm not surprised so see the football invasion we had today where the road team fans basically outnumbered the home team fans both at Dignity Health Sports Park and the Coliseum. It just shows you that you have to earn LA fans sports loyalties because they have no time for terrible football. Also when the NFL abandoned LA in the mid 90's, pro football fans ended up rooting for out of market teams and they never abandoned their loyalties despite the fact we have 2 NFL teams now.

Grew up a Raiders/Rams fan as a kid. When they moved I kind of abandoned football and poured my heart entirely into the Lakers (and a little Dodgers). Then I moved to San Diego and sort of adopted the Chargers because I missed football. Been 20 years since then. Being a Chargers fan really taught me how to be humble . There were years they had the most talent in the NFL and kept inventing new ways to lose. This year they've dealt with so many injuries that I can kind of accept what they are.

SD may not have had the best fans but I don't remember a complete invasion of opposing fans week after week like we're seeing here in L.A. Perhaps against the Raiders whose fans made the drive down. I went to stubhub last season for the game against the niners and it was just a sea of red jersey's. I was getting taunted in my own arena! We won on a last min FG so I had last laugh. Still, it's just been an utter embarrassment from top to bottom. Respect to Philip Rivers though. It sucks being a fan of this team.

Most of the Chargers fans stayed in San Diego so this is really not surprising for them that playing in Carson would basically be a 2nd home game for the road team.

So they were playing Renegade @ the Chargers home field against the Steelers? Someone has to be fired? When the Charger employee gets terminated, what are the odds they are told "the jig is up"?

My guess is they haven't been paying attention.....most of the games especially the ones against the really popular NFL teams at Carson have been a road game takeover.

as soon as the Steelers and their fans hear "Oh Mama,.....", it is like Popeye stumbling onto that last can of Spinach....or Hulk Hogan hearing all the Hulkamaniacs around the world cheering....

The Packers are down Davante Adams, down Geronimo Allison, and MVS is gutting through a leg injury, and they are down 22-20 with this one coming down to the wire with half of the 4th quarter still to play.

There were 3 absolutely brutal calls against the Lions tonight. I get that there will always be iffy calls, and those are bad enough. But 3 completely horrendous calls went against the Lions. On the play that knocked Allison out for the game, the defensive back did nothing wrong. He's trying to make a play on the ball--he had his arms out ready to try to catch it--and it's a bang-bang play where he makes immediate contact with Allison in trying to get to the ball. He isn't targeting, isn't leading with his head, and yes, their helmets hit. It's dangerous and it's football, and plays like that are why I never even contemplated suiting up, ever. But it should not have been a penalty and there is genuinely nothing that the defensive back can do to avoid that contact, other than to literally stop running and let Allison try to catch the ball.

And then, of course, the two phantom illegal hands to the face calls that went against the Lions. The umpire called both of them, not lead referee Clete Blakeman, but this is an illustration of why I think everything should be reviewable. These were completely bogus calls that almost certainly decided a football game tonight. You should be able to challenge any call on the field, in my opinion. Obvious mistakes like these would get changed quickly, and that should be what happens. I don't care if it takes a couple of extra minutes. I'm all-in on watching the games. Just get the calls right, especially when they are egregious like this.

I would be livid if I were a Lions fan. The officials cost them the difference between first and last place tonight.

"You don't beat Aaron Rodgers with field goals."

Lions only have themselves to blame.

Yes, there's no one else to blame. What an objective post!

Florio summed it up well:

Quote:
However the league handles it, the league must bridge the gap between the images we see in HD or 4K at home and the flashes and blurs that middle-aged-and-older officials wearing spandex see with the naked eye while primarily trying to avoid being trampled by young, large, fast men wearing armor. The proliferation of legalized gambling underscores the need for zealously ensuring the integity of outcome and the integrity of the final score.

You can beat Aaron Rodgers under Matt LaFleur with field goals. Dude thinks he still has Mariota under center.
