Melo?
He probably would want the vet min at the very least.
According to #22 at the NBA FAQ, veteran players on one year contracts only count $1,701,593 against the CAP even though their salaries are much higher.
Quote:
When a player has been in the NBA for three or more seasons, and is playing under a one-year, 10-day or Rest-of-Season contract at the minimum salary, the league reimburses the team for part of his salary -- any amount above the minimum salary for a two-year veteran. For example, the minimum salary for a two-year veteran in 2017-18 is $1,471,382, so for a ten-year veteran, with a minimum salary of $2,328,652, the league would reimburse the team $857,270. Only the two-year minimum salary is included in the team salary, not the player's full salary. They do this so teams won't shy away from signing older veterans simply because they are more expensive than younger veterans.
Still, I don't think the Lakers need Melo. _________________ “When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.”
probably would not be enough, but Iman Shumpert would not be bad.
Need a bigger body - Noah? _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".

He has hundreds of millions of dollars so I doubt a couple of million dollars mean anything to him. He would pay to play for us right now. _________________ LeGoat! LeMazing! LeGend!

Not quite. The full salary would count against the cap; the NBA simply pays for half the salary.
Not quite. When signing a player with three or more years of experience to a one year Vet-Min contract, the amount that gets counted to the cap is the minimum salary for a player with two years of experience. For 2019-20, this amount is $1,620,564. You could sign a player with 10 years experience at $2,564,753 and it would still be $1,620,564 against the cap.
Carmelo might be the 'Banana-Boath-Crew' choice, however Kenneth Faried may be the 'Best' choice.
Faried is an active player who doesn't need the ball, and can play defense! When I look at the Clippers and their potential on the defensive side of the ball, it definitely makes you pay attention.
However there is 'GREAT' potential with our current Lakers team to also be one of the better defensive teams in the League.
Green + Bradley + Davis + McGee + LeBron + Kuzma + Howard
I mean there is good potential defensively on the team and Faried would only add to that and the fact he can play the 'small-ball' 5! I'd love to have Melo on the squad for '$%It's & Giggles' but the coaching choice, the right choice may very well be Kenneth Faried!
I'm guessing other notables for the team could be:
Shumpert (Defensive)
JR Smith (Offense / spread the floor, but No...Please No)
Joakim Noah
Jamal Crawford
Luc Mbah a Moute (Defense)
Nick Young (Shooter)
The vet's minimum becomes prorate by Feb/March 2020 and would be less than the 1.75m DPE (which does not prorate). By Feb/March, you have played more than 60% of the season so the vet's minimum will be more like slightly over 1m while the DPE is 1.75m. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

not realistic but Galinari buy out if OKC tanking (he need to give up lotta dough tho)
In order to stay close to the game, Wade, who now resides in Los Angeles, plans to work out with his good friend and former teammate LeBron James before Lakers games during the upcoming season, both at the team's practice facility and at the Staples Center (queue the speculation about a potential reunion between the two).
"You're definitely going to see me out there," Wade said. "I'll be there early to work out with LeBron before the game starts. I just want to stay around it and be as involved as I can."
