I'd say it's the opposite. Lamelo's stock seems to be rising as he distances himself from his father, as Lonzo has done.

The Ball kids are finally realizing that having their father involved in their careers/business isn't beneficial to them.

The question is whether Lavar can accept just being their father, and not try to use his kids to build his own celebrity and own business.

This "Laker news" has been up for 9 hours already. Either the mods think this is laker related or they have abandoned this site. Wake up mods, laker vegas minicamp started already, one would think that would be the top story here not this.

Coke suddenly got really athletic

He's been yamming on dudes in traffic for a few years, but he seems to have hit another gear.

Some intricate footwork on his drives at times too.

Even if his father minimized his association, is there anything in his game that would indicate he is a number 1 pick? I've watch clips of him and theres nothing that really screams this guy is a must have player.

a little bit.. but he's still got the baby giraffe leg syndrome going on, and it really manifests itself on D most.. trying to slide

Lol baby giraffe legs is a great descriptor.

I'd take Cole Anthony at #2 in last year's draft, as well.

I think Lamelo can become a very good player in the NBA. A 6'7" PG who is possibly still growing and has yet to fill out. He appears to have good court vision, dribbling and movement... likes to set up team mates... is an accurate shooter (he does need to fix his form a little but it's not as bad as Lonzo's was/is) and can be aggressive when it comes to scoring... and is active enough on defense. If everything works out for him, seems the sort of player who could give a team 20 pts, 5-10 rebs, 5-10 asts. Then remember he only just turned 18... almost a year and a half younger than Cole Anthony. You should probably ignore any showboating highlights from his high school years and only look at what he's doing in Australia instead.

There's a way to go until the next draft though. Let's see how his year plays out.

Is this a reasonable "hot take"? If the Knicks get to draft Lamelo in 2020, I think Lavar finally gets his wish and we just might see all three Ball brothers in NY. The Knicks will find a way to trade with the Pels for Lonzo and then sign Liangelo to keep them happy and because having three brothers on the same team is also a marketable ploy.

PG: Lonzo
SG: Lamelo / Liangelo
SF: Barrett / Knox
PF: Someone who can shoot the three, run, defend... like Sekou, who should be coming along nicely by then.
CF: Robinson

That could be a nice young core group to build around.

I wonder how LaVar will split his time harassing his two sons’ teammates, coaches, and fanbases.

Senility is starting to push its way inside Woj. He is a borderline fool and is just trying to stay relevant (to little to late).

Lamelo has no business being drafted in the 1st round, let alone as the #1 overall pick. I've watched that kid since his freshman year, he's gotten taller and a little more skilled. But he's not an elite talent like Lonzo. And he's literally never played defense in his life.

Crazy, because he's going lottery.
