I would say it's big time underrated cuz of the bubble.
I would say it's rated properly in normal circumstances though. _________________ ππ π π π #18!!!

I remember watching the commentary for the movie The Great Escape and James Garner talked about how Steve McQueen was difficult to work with at times. Most of the British actors were used to working together in more of a collaborative effort, and they were not used to working with difficult, "Hollywood" stars. McQueen had finished Cool Hand Luke the year before, and wasn't excited about doing another "prison" movie.
James Garner said that McQueen "wanted to be the hero, but didn't want to do anything especially heroic." The compromise was creating the scene where McQueen escapes to gather local intelligence, allows himself to be recaptured, to give the escape team the intel they need for their mass breakout from the German POW camp.
I think KL is like McQueen in this example. He wants to be the hero, he wants to be seen as a star, but he doesn't want to do the extra things like leadership, being a spokesman, or bringing his team together. He wants his load management time off, and he is used to the other teams, the Raptors and the Spurs, where other guys carried their share of the load, with no expectations for KL off the court.
It's a version of what we see on other teams, especially one's that don't make the playoffs or are just first round cannon fodder. The star wants the accolades, gets his shots and points, his team loses more than they win, just as long as the star gets his money, his celebrity, but doesn't get his team better or improve his own game.
That's never been, and probably never will be him. What I think is the biggest reason the other guys folded is their leaders don't have leadership qualities. KL is as quiet as they come...and private. Look at the way he engineered the moves that led to this current version of the other guys. Private, a bit sneaky, quiet, doesn't enjoy the spotlight.
PG, otoh, is too inconsistent and mentally deficient to lead. Who does that leave them with?

Loving this. Like I said a couple years ago re PG13 "youve lost your LA privileges" after the way he responded to Laker interest. He can go rot in mediocrity.

Good with AD, who is a vastly superior talent.
It's really just a lesson in bad decision making. PG had an option to come to LA and join LeBron in 2018. We had a bunch of young pieces that we could've still flipped for AD. He could be on this team right now with LeBron, AD, maybe Rondo, Dwight and a few other vets. We offered him a chance to come home, be loved by the premier franchise, play in the shadow of one of his personal idols in Kobe, play alongside LeBron James and compete for championships. When asked about playing next to LeBron he said "Some folks don't mesh well playing next to LeBron"
Instead of taking the obvious best options, PG outsmarted himself. He stuck with the Westbrook and the Thunder only to find that they didn't see Westbrook in their long term plans. He gave up the opportunity of a lifetime just to stay in Oklahoma City and they blew up the team a year later. After a second 1st round exit, he demands a trade to get to Los Angeles only to go to the Clippers and a franchise that's never even been to a conference finals instead of the franchise with 16 NBA Finals appearances in the last 30 years.
PG has demonstrated that he is a poor decision maker on and off the court.

Worse (for him) - PG is going to be the scapegoat for their failure this year. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".
The Clips talent on paper was enormous. But I also predicted that the Clips role players who were there before Kawhi/PG (and took the Warriors to 6 games the playoffs before) would bristle at how KL/PG would get favorable treatment. According to Broussard (take with a huge grain of salt, but this one is so obvious):
-players didn't like Doc treating KL/PG differently and constantly harping on the role players
-KL's general lack of leadership, and how he didn't like the increased playoff minutes.
I wonder what they'll do. Trez may bounce. I think the role players (Trez/Bev/Lou in particular) still feel slighted. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
One thing that I believe to be understated is the fact that opposing teams may suddenly be less inclined to cut deals with the Clippers, especially with the perception that they dealt underhandedly to acquire #2.
The Flippers no longer the plucky underachievers that people are willing to deal with because it does not affect them. Now, they are front running, disrespectful, and overly hateful and spiteful. They may yet get their true comeuppance for acting the way they have. Even if teams will trade with them, they have to understand their desperation and will therefore rip them off as badly as possible.
"I've been told some of the Clippers role players actually think they're as good as Paul George. They're having problems w/ the special treatment he's gotten from Doc Rivers. They can handle Kawhi getting special treatment bc for the most part he delivered." β @Chris_Broussard

There must be a gap in funding from Ballmer.
Lou, you're not as good as PG. Cut it out.
But that sure is good to hear. _________________ ππ π π π #18!!!

Ballmer's checks are good - it's his product that is the issue. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".
