There have been at least 5 major crane collapses in the US in the past 10-20 yrs. A couple of high profile NYC ones and one while building the roof on the Brewers' stadium, all involving deaths. One in SEA in April of this year that killed 4. Also, one in Mecca on 9/11/15 that resulted in 100+ deaths. Wonder what that's about.

A construction worker was working on the 14th floor and escaped unharmed.

Quote:
Working for King Construction, Oyuela said he heard a massive booming sound from the floors above. He was engulfed by a cloud of dust as concrete and metal started falling all around him.

Oyuela ran for his life towards a rear set of emergency stairs down to ground level as he and a group of co-workers rushed to get clear of the collapsing structure, he said.

"I thought it was an earthquake that was taking us," Oyuela said. "All I thought about was death."

Oyuela said one of his co-workers was hospitalized with a knee injury. Oyuela wasn't physically injured, but said he was shaken to his core.

One of the three has been found but there are two people still unaccounted for. Searches in the debris have been suspended for fear of another collapse.

sounds like from article I read in the last hour that they actually believe odds are high the 2 missing people are alive, and have to find a safe way to reach them. I hope their belief ends up being true.
