Ron before the game:"I'll do the same thing against him as I have against all the other guys I played who averaged a lot of points," Artest said. "I'll bring his scoring average down and if that doesn't work then I'll search out his family in the stands and go after them instead. I'll play my game. Most guys who average 20 or more, irritate me so much that I think about dumping the NBA for my rap career"
36 PTS, 10 AST, 6 REB, 2 STL, 1 TO, 50% FG, 4-7 3PT, ARTEST!

Extra Extra read all about it!!!! Ron Ron can't turn the Queens into Kings
Kobe Bryant as usual dismisses any thoughts of a Kobestopper II coming into Staples Center and mouthing off, So the Queens hightail it out of L.A. back to cowtown with there tampax on. |

Actually, Kobe's shot was off. He missed like 4 open shots in the 1st half that he would never have missed normally and he didn't miss them because of Artest. His shot was just a little off. He could very easy have gone off for 44 and shot 60%. |

Yeah, haha, that's what's scary. I did notice that his shot was little shorter than usual (in the first-half), but he finished strong, which is what matters. _________________ "In essence, the trade was: Shaq, Rick Fox and Gary Payton for Odom, Kwame, Mihm, Profit, 2nd round picks, a 1st round pick and 30 million in luxury tax saviings." - LakerJam

WTF is up with saying he'll go after an opponent's family? Nutso. Glad he's not in P&G, 'cuz the man is psycho. |

INCREDIBLE. I knew Artest would be a stiffer challenge for Kobe and the Lakers at large. I felt he may shift this rivalry, and he does make it more intense. From the look of the stats he got taken apart. I need to see this game. |

Artest is an excellent team and pressure defender. He is also very strong and can attack from the post.
HOWEVER, like I stated in all those Artest trade threads - The dude thinks he's a superstar and will shoot a TON of bad, selfish shots. Lamar played solid defense on him - but the reason Artest wound up with that kind of shooting night was himself. Ugly jumpshots that he had no reason to be jacking up. At the same time, he stagnates the offense with not moving the ball. The Kings offense has gotten worse considerably with him (though the defense was better - even if we didn't see it last night)
That being said - With Bryant, Odom and Artest - We may have challenged for the Pacific. |

Kobe was just shooting 3's in Ron's eye last night. Kobe is really showing this year that he is better than any one player. |

Kobe did own Artest last night.
That said, this should be a good rivalry over time. I think they play two more times this season. Artest has been out for awhile, so I think he's still rounding back into form. On the other hand, Kobe is in top form and came out motivated wanting to really take it to Artest. These will be closer, more intense battles in the future, have no doubt.
And Kobe and the Lakers will still win. |
