Is this the veteran guard we need? Be nice to pick him up without having to have given up a draft pick. I'd rather have him than Derek Anderson. Could we claim him on waivers with the rest of our MLE? I know we used some of it to sign Turiaf to a 3-year deal? How much do we have left?

The Hawks waived him today. He's a vet and is a decent 3 point shot.

Kind of reminds me of an older Flip Murray.

Small and no D, but he can sure light it up. I still remember that 50 point game he had a few years back with Phoenix. Might be a nice 3rd guard to bring in for scoring purposes.

Yeah, I would like Delk.

Agreed with da ocho.

Waive Slava and bring on the vet guard.

Since we're over the salary cap, I don't think we can claim him on waivers unless we have enough trade exceptions to cover his +$3 milllion salary or the Lakers applied for a Disabled Players Exception for Slava.

I think we will have to wait until he clears waivers in 48 hours and hope he wants to sign with us.

You guys know what? I think the Lakers have an ethics issue with waiving Slava... Don't you know the time to waive Slava has came and gone a looooonnngggg time ago...

If a reporter were to ask Jax if he had any future plans for Slava, Jackson would first reply by responding with "Who?" I'll bet the Lakers just can't do it to Slava while he is in the condition he is in...

Delk has a career average of 9ppg in 21mpg. I'd say we can use this coming off the bench.

If I were Delk, I'd be looking at the Pistons (unfortunately). Chance to win a ring, and they need a backup guard. True, Delk isn't really a point, but he could still fit nicely into their backup slot.

Delk sounds pretty good to me. I don't think it can hurt them anymore than what they already have on the roster.

Sign him Mitch

They didn't have a problem waiving Profit and that was less than a week after he got injured.

Look how they treated GP?

The only reason they've held onto Slobber this long was because of the value of his expiring contract. Now that that time has passed, he's worthless.

MODS: Can we merge the two Delk threads?

Do it. Lakers need a nice punch off the bench. If healthy, he can surely contribute more than Devin Green.

But, given those facts, we know the Lakers won't pick him up.

Delk would really be a big help for our team. Good defender and fair 3 point shooter. Instant depth at that position.

Yeah gee, we wouldn't wanna look bad waiving Slava and risk looking
like a professional basketball team.

Mitch: "Slava, we need to talk... step into my office"

Slava: "I knew this day was coming" <snickers> (yes I'm being punny)

Mitch: "We hate to do this to you. To leave you sitting on more money
than most people make in a lifetime. Having had the experience of being
a pro-athlete. Being young enough to go play somewhere else if you
want next season. But my job is to make business decisions and this
is one such decision."

Slava: "Why lord, why!?!?! WHY?!?!??!! M'kay catch ya later Mizzle."

I wouldn't mind Tony Delk at all. Drop Slava and sign Delk for the vet. minimum.

I seriously want us to sign Delk. He can take a lot of load of Kobe for scoring. Please do it Mitch!

Delk wants to play and the Pistons already have Lindsay Hunter as their backup. That's why they traded Arroyo.

All of the serious contenders are solid at the 1.

Suns: Nash, Barbosa
Mavs: Terry, Harris
Heat: J-Will, GP
Piston: B-B-Billups,Hunter
Spurs: Parker,Nick

Yeah, but given Lindsay is old and coming off an injury, isn't Dumars looking for some insurance?

He'd be lucky to give us 8-10 MINUTES a game, look at his bio page, looks like a retiree to me. he's played all of 7 whole minutes this season!

I thought Delk might be one of our targets for that veteran guard need. He made some comments after not getting traded that made it sound like he would be let go. I would be shocked if Mitch wasn't making some phone calls to see if we can add him to the roster in place of Slava's spot.
