I became a fan because of Kareem ... but Magic made me fall in love the Lakers.

The 80s Lakers, all of them, but with Kobe it was personal because I was old enough to appreciate him from day 1 and not mid-career.

Wilt for me too. Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Happy Hairston, Gail Goodrich, Pat Riley, Jim Macmillan, FINALLY winning that title back for the Lakers, over Clyde Frazier's Knicks, who also had Phil Jackson at power forward if I remember correctly.

And yes- SHOWTIME was my favorite squad of all time! What a spectacular team.

The one and only Jerry A. West.

But really, dating all the way back to the Minneapolis days it's been an embarrassment of riches for this franchise. The team we have this year is playing well, fun to watch, and has a chance to do something special.

RIP Kobe, Gianna and the other souls on that helicopter.

Why they is that strange? He was mine too. The man was a damn good player.

Still remember “being him” on the courts as a kid. Then struggling to choose between him or Pete Maravich.

The lineage was strong for me. Blessed as a Lakers fan.

Started with Magic as a kid.

Then went to Shaq/Kobe.

Then Kobe/Pau/LO.

Now we have LBJ/AD.

No fan base comes close. So thankful that I was born and raised in LA.

For me, Magic.

I still get a little thrill when I meet the Showtime guys now and then around town. I met AC Greene recently and told him I saw him win a ring. He was pleasant but didn't really care. Damn, virgins. Hard to get a stir out of them.

The threepeat years were pretty exciting, though. I've never seen anything like Shaq at that time. His size and physicality was mind-blowing.

Elgin and Gentleman Jerry. Big Hairston fan too because his nickname was 'Happy'.

Sure wish West was with the franchise where his heart is.

Shaq made me love the Lakers but Kobe made me respect and love basketball. Nobody respected the game or showed the intensity that the sport deserves like him.

my first memory of the lakers is from NBA live game (2004 i think). i remember i tried playing basketball games in it and there's this one team i love to play. i also remember HATING a team called the clippers, cause i was like "why was there are TWO teams for LA, this fake one must be suck (the clippers)". and so as i grew older, i started following the NBA and naturally its the lakers. i started following the team regularly in 2011 and been hooked since.

Ah, Happy. If you were going to make a list of the greatest players to never make an all star team there would be a lot of Lakers on it -- Happy, Odom, Rick Fox, Michael Cooper, Byron Scott.
