I was there and saw too many current and former players to count. Some others missed in the role call from Vasashi17... I saw Ronny Turiaf, Carlos Boozer, DJ Mbenga, Devean George, Mitch Kupchak, Ginobli, Tony Parker, Quinn Cook, Vlade, Luke, Jordan Farmar, Tayshaun Prince, Klay Thompson and Candace Parker. A-Rod and J-Lo were there too, though obviously not NBA.
Waiting for things to start that was part of the fun just trying to pick them out as they assembled. |

Some quality rare pics/footage in that video
For some reason it made me think of the word Regret and getting caught up wasting precious time on what could have been
Always think of what still can be.. Thought is energy.

I know it's a small part in the grand scheme of events but today showed the world, even if it's just a glimpse, what it means to be a Laker. |

Kinda strange that he'd a) not want to be shown and b) go to the lengths of wearing a black hoodie to be hidden.
Perhaps he knew he was going to be a mess and didn't want that to be seen. |

He told the media not to show him on camera and didnt want to take anything away from Kobe. Kind of dont blame him specially with that Diana T. joke. |

Yeah, that’s Metta , not lebron. If he was there, we’d seen the pictures already

Funny I thought that was Lebron but could never get a good glimpse of him. It makes sense because if it was obvious he was there, people would ask why he didn't speak. The family picked the speakers and based on the time it was tough. It was both for Kobe and Gianna which is why it was tough to get the speakers in. Having the UConn coach and the women's basketball players filled half the slots. LBJ got a Kobe tattoo no one should question him about this. |

such a hard thing to digest still. Kobe was immortal on the court, thats all I have seen of him.. makes it extremely hard to accept the fact that he is gone forever. |

i wish ppl leave lebron alone. if you want to be critical of his game thats one thing but these types of attacks are ridiculous. the man has cried his eyes out over kobe's passing like the rest of us. leave him alone. i mean cmon for kobe's sake. kobe wouldnt condone this (bleep) around his friend. if he was there great. if he wasnt thats his choice and im sure he has his reasons either way. _________________ Kobe Forever |

There were tons of people who would’ve done the tribute if asked. Kobe was just too big.

Whatever healing I had over the last month has gone out the window. It's my birthday and I've been grumpy and teary-eyed all day. Haven't answered a single phone call for birthday wishes and haven't read any texts. Had a lump in my throat all day at work and started crying on the drive home when they aired parts of Vanessa's speech. I should be grateful for whatever few people I have in my life that really care but I just feel like being alone today. Birthdays have never been a happy occasion for me. I think of the things in my life I haven't been able to fix since the previous birthday, only now I've lost a year of life. And to lose a hero like Kobe, man it's been a tough day. I'm not in a good place. And now I need to step away from the computer and have a drink. I'm glad I can at least put these words down on LG. Thank you to all the mods for running such a great site. |

my heart still bleeds! I grew up from the 70’s to the 80’s . Raised kids in the late 90’s! Nobody did it better than Kobe! On the court and off! Outside of that i an too emotional to express my feelings. Hug your wife, your children your neighbors children. The kids are the way! Kobe saw that! Embrace and equip them for their journey to leave earth a better place place!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ _________________ “What is 17,505”

I just want to share this with my fellow Laker fans. I grew up in a very religious home that my father bought in 1968, 2 minutes from the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood, with a father that was a bit of a chauvinist. That's not a knock on him because he fought in WW2, owned his own businesses, worked hard to give me and my siblings what we needed and was from an era where women played a certain role in relationships and my mother accepted that because she wanted a big family with both parents active in our lives more than anything. It makes me who I am today and I love them both for their sacrifice.
As I mentioned earlier I'm in Thailand now and watched the memorial live with a woman here that I've known for about 6 months. Kobe is not as famous here as he is China and the Philippines, but she told me that those that follow African American culture here know who he is and was devastated by the news of him passing. So I explained to her how when Kobe was 21 or 22 everybody in L.A., including myself, was against him marrying at such a young age, and she said to me that when you truly love someone you really don't care what other people think. Me being me, I tried to tell her...."But Kobe was young, rich and famous, he could have any woman he wanted". Well, after watching Vanessa today, I, at 49 years old, finally learned what it means when people say "Behind every strong man is a strong woman". Vanessa has always been in the background, we never really heard much from her, much like my Mom growing up. All I know her from is her infamous "We play for championships in this family" comment, and I always thought that was for a lack of a better term some real gangster ish to say coming from someone's wife. After today I can see that as much talent as Kobe was blessed to be born with...as much hard work as he put into his craft...as much as he loved the sport of basketball...he wouldn't be half of what he became to be without his wife Vanessa. God put those two together for a reason and needless to say it was a match made in Heaven.
Just my 2 cents....... |

Well said Kwase! She stood by him when others may have bolted (especially with no prenup) and is the rock of that family. She got this. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |
