Close game, crunch time, if we need a basket who do the Lakers go to?

We have no real closer. Not LeBron, he’s stuck in between scoring and facilitating even late in game. Not Davis, he seems too passive in crunch time and not want to take that responsibility late in game. We have nobody on the team like a Dame or Kawhi who are not afraid to take over and put up shots with the game on the line.

Either LeBron or Davis is going to have to become that, and I hope it will be Davis. I would like to see Davis be the man that starts demanding the ball on clutch situations. Let LeBron do LeBron since it still gets teammates involved, but I hope Davis can develop that killer instinct and be the guy, the closer.

Although I agree and would want to see AD take on that closer role, he’s a little more limited than guys like Dame or Kawhi in that he doesn’t exactly have the best handles to create a lot of separation off the dribble. He’s in the post most of the time and either does a spin move to the basket or make a turnaround jumper. Now if he can develop a skyhook or improve his jumper more consistently and shoot like Dirk...

AD had given his fair share. If we want to have him as closer, the coaches should devise a system to maximize his talents.

The media really has fans not truly knowing what a closer is. They think it's someone who just chucks up shots, and I can't help but shake my head when I hear that narrative spewed from the media onto a message board. A closer is someone who and gets himself and other guys in position to put the game away

Bron is the closer. He has proven time, and time, and time, and time, and time again that he is when shooting the ball. He's also given guys good looks at the basket late in games. That's a closer. Not just someone who jacks up shots but someone who puts himself and others in the best position at the end of the game. Give me that over a chucker 1000% of the time

he did have a good Overtime vs Dallas where he went 3/3 which isn't included in those.
he's 2/6 vs the Clippers total in the 4th Q, with no FTs.

Bron in the 4th Q in losses is shooting very poorly, 22%3s, 39% FG ; in wins he's shooting very well, 42% 3s, 47%FG.. so we swing with Bron.

Lebron and AD ain't closers, that's not their games and not their personalities.

That has been apparent the entire season so it's disappointing we didn't do anything to address that weakness since I think any Laker fan that]s followed the season could tell that would bite us during the big games and the playoffs.

Something needs to change between now and playoffs, whether that's Collison, getting buyout candidates or CBA guys since the Chinese season is now postponed indefinitely. Not a big ask, we don't need Kyrie out there, just someone who has the balls to take some big shots and the skills to make a decent percentage of them and have the opponent respect them

I wish LeBron would just take over. There is no fear in opposing teams where if the game is tied or they are down, that the game is essentially over. In their eyes, just play defense and hit some shots. Hit defensive rotations and get a hand up to contest Danny Green's shot.

When it should be...the score is tied or we're down and now it's (bleep) LeBron time and we're done. Jesus christ man impose yourself. Break their spirits. They shouldn't have hope.

Don’t criticize AD for not being something you want him to be. He is a very good second option who isn’t known to shine in crunch time. Someone else can win with.

It’s a combination of lack of killer instinct, soft mentally and physically.

Lebron is not the cold killer that Kobe or Jordan was. We don’t have that killer alongside him.

AD shies away from certain physical play, certain opponents know how to take his space away and he settles for the fade.

From a mental perspective, they both tend to give up and take checked out type of shots late.

Maybe it changes in the playoffs, but the pattern of all those attributes has been there most notably against the better teams.

LeBron's never won without another star player on the perimeter. He's gonna need to play like Kobe and Jordan down the stretch because Wade and Kyrie aren't there to take those shots. He can't be passive like this. I'd rather he shoot contested fadeaways than the shots we've been getting.

It's LeBron or bust at this point. Collison would be good to take the pressure off LeBron during the course of the game, but LeBron absolutely needs to be that guy down the stretch.

Our opponents shouldn't have spirits if the game is close. "They got LeBron, the game is over." It has to be that or we're not going to beat the Clippers or some of the other better teams in the playoffs.
