To answer your question, the 50’s dodgers, 60’s Lakers, pre-2004 redsox, 90’s Bills and Braves. All except the Bills finally broke through though it took the red Sox 94 years. Baseball is definitely a game where a lot more luck (or baseball gods influence) plays a part.
This could easily become the 2003 ALCS where the great Sox team gets bounced yet again when they were expected to win. But maybe it’s the 2004 ALCS where after years of failure and on the brink of elimination they finally figure it out. Just need 1 lucky break to change everything.

speak it into existence

Yeah - he is being a little overshadowed, but I don't think we'd be here without him.

He's got a bright future. He is getting his due and will for years to come.

How rare is it to have an NBA / MLB champion from the same city in a given year? How many times has it happened?

Pretty rare. Lakers and Angels (if that counts) in '02 and then Dodgers and Lakers in '88. Boston had a crazy year a few years ago with 3 titles, but it is rare.

Update: I forgot the Bruins lost in G7 of the Cup so Boston didn't win 3.

In any case, LA is the only city with an NBA Finals / WS in the same year.

I'm happy for Corey Seager. He had some tough times dealing with injuries and it's great to see him healthy and playing at a high level.

Even crazier is that they dropped when he “slumped the past 3 games”. He was at like 1.560 OPS after game 2 iirc. Dude was clutch and carried the offense in the NLCS.

In a year that has sucked so hard... October sports has been such an amazing lift.

No matter how people credit or do not credit this season for both basketball and baseball, I can guarantee, that this championship will never be forgotten. The champions in this God forsaken year are going to be remembered forever.
