I remember the Lakers being the clear favorite that year too. Even Shaq said that he thought he Lakers wanted the Heat. Hopefully the Lakers stay focused.

The Lakers despite the fact that they went to the finals that year had a hobbled Fisher and Malone going into the Finals, this is gonna be very different but it will be a battle for sure.

Lakers achillies heel are elite shot creators, heat don't have one.

They have a very balanced team but I got LA in 5 but I could see it go 6.

Even if they are the 2004 Pistons that doesn't mean the Lakers are the 2004 Lakers. Kobe/Shaq were just about done with each other and Karl Malone was injured and happened to be a very important piece to the team.

Heat could win. I just think this Lakers team is more focused and hopefully healthier compared to that prior Lakers team.

Kobe and Shaq also hated each other.

I’m not confident until we get a “are you still confident” thread.

Yeah, no one should be surprised that we fell apart that year, to much turmoil.

No one gave that Pistons team a chance. I’m guessing too many people will be picking Miami.

Nah, I def. don't get those vibes at all honestly. That Pistons team was full of tough hungry veterans and the Lakers were missing Malone (who I believe would have been the difference) not to mention like others have said Kobe and Shaq were completely over being on the same team at this point.

I will say the Heat are a very tough and resilient team but the Lakers once again just completely matchup great on top of again having the farrr and away two best players.

Yea, those guys played good individual defense.
Miami has to rely on schemes more.

This Heat team beat the Giannis Bucks handily in 5 games, they deserve respect and shouldn’t be taken lightly

If they call an opening jump ball violation against us, I will be concerned.

Because that happened 4 times against us in the NBA Finals vs. the Pistons.

FIX

Did you really need to start a whole thread for this?

Just make your statement in the Finals discussion.

It's 2020.

Kobe ain't on the verge of doing time.

Karl Malone is retired.

And we have LeBron James.

Relax.

Should they be feared because 1 fan has a vibe?

Yeah it's a very different style of team to that Pistons side obviously, I think people just get a similar kind of 'great team' vibe about the Heat

On paper we're the better side, can't take Miami lightly at all, though

Difference is the 03-04 Pistons were a historically good defensive team. I think they are top 5 all time based on the defensive rankings (w/ the 07-08 celtics not too far behind).

The game is drastically different today. The surge in 3 pt shooting means defense isn't as valuable as it once was, and that the 3 and D strategy often prevails. The team that is able to defend better while hitting 3s will win.

LeBron and Davis need to take over like they did against the Nuggets. The Heat have lots of ahooters that the nuggets didn't

Prince had a lot of length that bothered Kobe that series. Kobe would like to shoot jumpers over ppl and it was hard against that length

For whatever reason Shaq had a hard time with Ben Wallace too.
