I hope everyone here who is anywhere in our westernmost states of CA, OR, WA is doing OK and is safe from all of the crazy fires. Just for some perspective, the entire Pacific Coast from San Diego to Vancouver is now blanketed in smoke. The air quality index is in the "Very Unhealthy" category at the very least across all three states.

This is crazy even in 2020 terms.

So stay safe West Coasters. One more reason to stay inside at home, as if you need one right now. And I hope that no one is in evacuation mode or worse.

Climate change is a b!tch...and is probably responsible for much of this.

I wish all affected parties well.

Pretty frustrating that in this day and age some people still refuse to accept the root cause of these occurrences.

I wish the best to those in areas being affected.

Fires, darkened skies, plague.

The direction things are going, I'm considering becoming a blacksmith.

Before this thread gets political-ized, I want to go on record that:

I am against forest fires...!

Last year the smoke and the falling ash across the Santa Monica mountains was pretty awful. But this is just a blanket across the whole west coast, it's insane.

It looks like a thick blanket of yellow/grey fog when I step outside.
The smoke is pretty bad. We are keeping the windows closed and a/c on because the smoke was coming into the house.

Honestly, these Covid masks help. I heard the fire was only 6% contained as of yesterday and it won't be fully contained for about a month. smh

California closed all campgrounds in the National forests last week.

https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/inyo/alerts-notices/?aid=61545

And I have a camping trip planned for early October, so I hope this is resolved quickly...

It was hard enough to breath with all the smoke and ash, now imagine there are going to be NFL games possibly being played tomorrow in this environment.

The skies are gray here in Los Angeles. It's like a cloudy day. The sun is blocked out by the smoke.

Global Warming is a reality. We as people worldwide have to do something to counter it's effect.

America is second only to China in contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. Biden has a plan to counter emissions by using clean energy technology and slow the use of fossil fuel. Doing that would also boost the economy because it would create jobs.

Trump's solution, rake leaves in the forest is so asinine it's laughable. What's so disturbing is he believes it. Stupidity is an insult to the word.

Fire and Ice

BY ROBERT FROST

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Air quality has reached "hazardous" levels where I live.

I wonder how it's gonna affect my chickens outside.

They should come home to roost

It's starting to clear up a bit here in the South Bay. There's partial sun and the sky appears more blue than grey.

When it's time to eat them they'll be pre-smoked from the inside-out.

Mayor Garcetti said this administration has it's head in the sand. He said Trump will probably come out here and tell us he's gonna send us more rakes instead of more help.

LINK
Quote:

The Democratic governors say the fires are a consequence of climate change, while the Trump administration has blamed poor forest management for the flames that have raced through the region and made the air in places like Portland, Oregon, Seattle and San Francisco some of the worst in the world.

Now there is a firefighting death in the El Dorado Fire. That baby could be born in prison.
