Lakers need his defense (specifically with AB not around) and high IQ basketball.
If he’s listed as probable, they must already know he’s fine. They always exaggerate the injury report.
Right, but the words “pre-cautionary MRI” is not good imo.
Hopefully, nothing came of it.
Eh they just wanted to bill the Lakers insurance. _________________ Author of James Harden and the Strip Club

Hopefully we got our bad shooting night out of the way. Even hitting just below our average gives us an additional 9 points that game, but I'm sure bubble boy Murray would answer with a 40 footer.

I especially liked the whistle he got when he “collapsed” from Howard bumping into him right after the Flagrant elbow to James’ jaw was called.
It was almost comical the way Jokic slowly lowered himself to the ground. Just short of putting down a blanket so he doesn’t get dirty.
You know it is bad when Reggie Miller cant stop admiring how well he “sells a call”.
If this team wins tomorrow, are you guys going to be worried about how the Nuggets figured us out and we'll eventually lose the series in 7?
Lakers have to make adjustments. LeBron can't coast and get his teammates involved. he has to be aggressive and put a lot of pressure on their defense. If Danny Green and Kuzma are struggling, give Morris more minutes or give Dudley a short run because he's a veteran player who can knock down open shots.
Stop with the careless turnovers.
Be worried when Denver has 3 wins in this series.. Not 1.

Tell vogel to stop with the stupid rotation and this is not the regular season

I don’t think RetroNikes has a direct line to Frank Vogel. Also Vogel has won 77% of his playoff games this postseason so I’d say he’s doing ok so far.
If we find out that he told the team to miss every wide open 3 they took last game then I take it all back.

Lebron built a career with that off arm. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

Not really. If anything it’s been lowering his shoulder.
The single biggest thing that the Lakers could do to improve their chances in this series and in the NBA Finals is to play AD and LeBron together as much as possible without another conventional big on the floor and with some actual shooters. Like the Lakers have what should be the most dominant pick and roll combo in the league. And they have two guys that are unstoppable at the rim and who can both post against smaller defenders on switches. But when they play together they often share the floor with bigs who clog the paint. In fact in game 3, the Lakers only played 15 minutes together with AD at the five and LeBron at the 4 — and 12 of those minutes were in the fourth quarter. Unsurprisingly the Lakers were much better in those minutes. The problem is when there is a conventional big man on the floor alongside AD, teams can switch the LeBron-AD pick and roll and Jokic (by far the Nuggets’ weakest big defensively) can avoid defending the action altogether. And it really takes away the roll, basically forcing AD to pop. Not only that but AD starts most positions very far from the rim, essentially turning him into a jump shooter.
But even just playing AD at the five with LeBron at the four wastes their potential if the Lakers combine them with too many non shooters like Caruso, Rondo, and Kuzma. The Lakers inexplicably actually used all three of them together to close the game. Unsurprisingly the Nuggets just left those guys wide open to collapse in the paint. And when AD rolls in such lineups, he just gets tagged by some Nugget leaving a non-threatening shooter wide open. Posting up is also far more difficult as the Nuggets are sending help before AD or LeBron even make the post catch. I would basically always close games with KCP and Danny Green to maximize spacing and the fifth guy can be whoever is playing well between Rondo, Caruso, and Kuzma.
The Lakers have two incredible weapons that are not only both proven playoff performers but whose games are synergistic. They need to maximize those weapons by putting AD and LeBron at their best respective positions and in lineups with at least some credible shooting around them.
You know what’s actually scary is that this isn’t just some anti-jinx attempt, it’s reality that the Nuggets found something that is working and unless Vogel figures it out and tries to come back with a game plan, we could be in trouble.
Well hopefully we figured out something on Denver during that come back and in the 4th...
The things we did in the 4th we can't sustain for an entire game. They were exhausted putting forth that much effort. The Lakers need to find something consistent that they can sustain for 4 quarters, not just in short bursts imo.
Two problems happened in that 4th quarter:
- Lakers figured out how to stop Denver's offense to close the gap, however they mentally (or physically) broke down and started chucking 3's to tie the game instead of continuing to go to the basket which was what got them back in the game.
- Lakers basically gave Denver a sneak peak of the adjustments they'll be making next game, which is playing zone. Now Denver will be able to better anticipate it, having experienced a "free trial" of the Lakers zone defense in that last quarter.
Vogel already said that he didn’t anticipate the zone being sustainable. I doubt his plan will simply be to run a zone all game.
What is sustainable, though, is them going back to switching on defense. The mistake they made in Game 3 was hard hedging (which Denver picked apart all night until the 4th when Vogel changed the scheme) when switching worked very well for them in the first two games.
I also anticipate that they'll make tweaks to their offense to counter Denver's paint packing. Might even see a lineup change depending on what the plan is.
Regardless, we'll see a focused, hungry Lakers team tonight. And they'll be lead by a focused, hungry LeBron. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. Why is the Lakers not using this agains the Nuggets zone? They used it to beat the Heat's zone, I dont know why they are abandonging it this time.
Exactly. I mentioned this a couple of days ago.
The Miami game at Staples is the blueprint for how the Lakers should attack the zone.
Yup, AD getting the ball in the high post will certainly gave them more options against this zone rather than keep on attacking it from the outside. I am expecting the Lakers to use it on Game 4.

Lakers still have no set half court offense, and it’s now the playoffs.
Most of the time when we don't have anything, we either dump the ball to AD while he's stationary, or LeBron pounds the ball and milks the shot clock in 3-point territory.
That will not get it done. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers
