Behold a cascade of liquid cocoa over nine metres high

Sweet tooth? You’ll be in sugary heaven at the largest chocolate museum in the world, the newly opened Lindt Home of Chocolate in Zurich. The museum also boats the world’s largest chocolate fountain, measuring over nine metres tall, with 1,500 litres of chocolate flowing through it. And no, you can’t dip your finger (or face) in it, thankfully.

Tennis ace and serious chocolate fan Roger Federer even helped unveil the towering, gooey fountain (he’s actually the Lindt brand ambassador) before it opened to the public. The museum offers an interactive tour where visitors can learn about the history of chocolate and its journey to Switzerland, as well the production process in Lindt factories that turn beans into bars, with plenty of tasting opportunities along the way, of course.

If you fancy getting even more hands-on, try one of the on-site courses run by expert chocolatiers that allow you to create your own cocoa-based masterpiece.

If you still haven’t had your fill by then, head to the almighty gift shop that offers over 500m2 of chocolatey shopping bliss. You can ask one of the chocolate gurus to craft a bespoke bar for you, create your own personalised praline packaging or just stock-up on all your favourites. It’s surely the closest you’ll ever get to running wild in Willy Wonka’s factory of confectionery dreams.
