The only ones I can think of off the top of my head that were valuable pieces on a championship team are B. Shaw and Harper (not sure if he was a min. player). Karl Malone could have been if they won as well.
We've had a lot of useless ring chasers over the years (Antawn Jamison, Mitch Richmond, etc.) |

Thinking of Malone as a "minimum player" is just hard to do. |

Lakers were extremely fortunate because those three had some extreme circumstances that were out of the norm.
You don’t just find guys every year like Caruso. You also don’t find guys like Dwight knocking on the door just looking for a job every year. |

I think their performance throughout the playoffs, and how prominent a role each played in winning playoff series, provides pretty strong case for saying yes. |

How does Rob Pelinka finish 7th in Executive of the Year?
We had the best record in the West in the regular season and won the title after missing the playoffs last season.
Time to fix who votes for that award or put it in mothballs. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

The media doesn't want to admit that they were horribly mistaken about all the praise they were giving at the beginning of the year. |

Yes, and that is part of the reason the Lakers won the title. Add Morris, too. Lakers got 4 high quality role players in Dwight, Caruso, Morris and Rondo for about 8M. You do not want to now start paying each of them, 8M.
Stay smart, keep looking for vets that fit in and will take 1-2 year deals. Give raises to the guys that won titles, but not severe overpayment.
Remember we just won the title and Bron-AD looked like studs. So, I would not be surprised if a lot of mid-career guys saw what happened with KCP, Dwight, Rondo, Caruso. Morris etc and think that can be us.
You play with Bron and AD, you will get open looks. You play D next to AD, in Frank Vogels system, you will get recognition as a defender. |

When Rick Fox came here for peanuts, it was a coup unlike anything - individually or as a group - scored by the Lakers this season. He was at the peak of his career, not yet 30 years old, and willing to take a boatload less cash than he could have obtained around the league. |
