Marc looked a little run down in the playoffs but so did a lot of players this year. He was also trying to repeat and that's tough to do. I am confident he will be fine with the Lakers. Frank will monitor his regular-season minutes. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.

He played 26 minutes a night last year
He’ll play 15-20 this season depending on the opponent. Against the nuggets and 76ers he’ll get 25mpg
Against teams like the heat, warriors, clippers, Celtics etc he’ll get closer to 15 and Harrell will likely get bulk minutes at center in those games
I see him finishing the year anywhere from 18-22mpg which means he’ll be pretty set come playoffs
I think lebron and AD get career lows in min at 32 ish a game
I think Harrell and schroder hover around the same
So much scoring between lebron, Davis, Schroder, Harrell, Kcp, and kuzma it’s borderline absurd.
the raptors actually ran some offense thru him, so he can be valuable when lebron is off the court.
he is probably the 3rd or 4th best passer in this team.

That is huge for us. We get a playmaker at the C spot. He can play make from the post or elbow. We didn't have that last season. A whole ne dimension the offense has been unlocked. Also adds 3 point shooting and back to the basket post play we didn't have out of our C spot. This should be fun. _________________ Previously LBJ23

Who's gonna stop this team?
An old friend of the gods of basketball called complacency.
That's why you add guys that are hungry in Wes, Dennis, and Trezz. Add a pro like Gasol. LeBron and AD are stars, they won't get complacent. _________________ Previously LBJ23
I'm still somewhat Suspect of signing Marc, but I'm going to embrace the change, I'm sure Rob has a plan moving forward:
I'm convinced of my theory that they want to move AD from the 5 spot totally if possible. Even if we go small ball now, AD is still the 4 with a more versatile defender in Trez.
I'd like to see us sign someone who can start to make up for the loss of Green and Bradley:
Combo Guard/TBD(In theory, Wes Matthews could be in this slot but prefer off the bench)
KCP
LeBron
AD
Gasol
Remaining Free Agent Centers:
Hassan Whiteside, Frank Kaminsky, Thon Maker, Ian Mahinmi
Remaining Free Agent Guards:
Reggie Jackson, Shabazz Napier, Emmanuel Mudiay, Gary Payton II, Glenn Robinson III, Dion Waiters, Marco Belinelli, Andrae Roberson,
I'll be somewhat partial, but If I had my pick of the FAs above, I'd go with Maker because he can defend better on the wing and either Mudiay or Roberson. Mudiay hasn't reached his potential IMO and Roberson would be a Beast defensively on the wing, which would be all we need him to do.
Charania: Marc Gasol has signed his two-year, $5.3M deal with the Lakers, source tells @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. No team or player option in second season.

If he stays limber... He'll be a great fit. I just worry about his stamina and old man legs. Hoping for the best. _________________ "We got a new universe coming and he's going to control all our universes. We're going to put our universes together" - Metta World Peace

Man I hope we run a real offense this year to take advantage of Gasol's passing skills. Vogel ran alot of Le-ISO last year out of necessity but this year we have some real playmakers/shot makers, we could have a really dynamic half-court offense with Gasol and make AD and LBJ's lives so much easier.
If I'm Vogel I'm studying tape from Nick Nurse to see how he used Gasol, this vid is awesome.

Pelinka really made necessary roster changes. It was nice that the Lakers were a great transition team, but most of that was on the backs of LBJ and AD. This roster is much more sustainable from an offensive standpoint.

Hopefully we have Kidd comeback as a lead assistant. As one of the great passers in the league he will see this and help Frank put together some great sets.
And what is wrong with this pickup? This gives us more mobility versus retaining Dwight

First move they’ve made that I’m not high on. No big deal though, they’re still light years better than any other team out there.
Just see him as a downgrade to Dwight or Javale. They were both quick and athletic and got a lot of lobs and with their rebounding and tapouts, the Lakers owned the offensive glass.
Gasol is a slogger. The Lakers have literally ran circles around him for years but I realize he has still been effective against other teams. He is a good passer and he will make some threes but I don’t think the Lakers really need that from the position. Dwight and Javale were quietly automatic from 3 but it didn’t make sense to use them for that.
We will see how it goes but I thought the others just worked better with the Lakers pace.
Dwight and Javale are automatic from 3?????
Both 50%+ on limited attempts. Small sample size and all and I know they wouldn’t hold up but the point was more that they didn’t need shooting from that position. The Lakers all had wide open looks all day long even without having their center camp out at the 3 point line.
