C - Ronny Turiaf (for Mihm/Kwame)
PF - Devean George (for Cook)
SF - Lamar Odom
SG - Kobe Bryant
PG - Sasha Vujacic/Devin Green (for Smush)
I think this should be the starting five.
Forget Smush, he doesn't play good throughout the game.
Mihm sure is good in offense but not as good in defense,
Kwame can do defense but can't do offense.
Ronny Turiaf does both from I've seen last night.
While Cook is good in offense because of being a terrific shooter, Cook just can't play defense. George can do both sides.
It just seems that the Lakers lack determination, I think Phil should punish other players by putting Smush on the bench.
And it proved some results, Smush played great in the 4th quarter.
I think Smush is only good as a bench player. |

I'd like to see this depth chart
PG: Kobe - Sasha - Green
SG: George - Smush - Wafer
SF: Odom - Cook - Luke
PF: Turiaf - Kwame
C : Mihm - Bynum _________________ I'm On point, On task, On message, and Off drugs. A Streetwise Smart Bomb, Out of rehab and In denial. Over the Top, On the edge, Under the Radar, and In Control. Behind the 8 ball, Ahead of the Curve and I've got a Love Child who sends me Hate mail. |

I dont really like Kobe playing the point to much....its a waste of energy for him, plus creates a lot of TO's but sadly i think this five makes the most sense. _________________ Panthas |

I like this Lineup at least there will be some energy.
PG-Kobe/Smush/Sasha/Mckie
2G-George/Kobe/Wafer
SF-Odom/George/Luke
PF-Rony/Cook/Kwame
C-Bynum/Mihm
See how the flow and matchups dictate who finishes. Plus the minutes and confidence Rony and Bynum will gain are crucial.
It's a good rotation since we have some versatile players. Odom could also run the point from the SF postition, so Kobe will not get tired. |

This is a fine rotation and I would like to see it used more, but you still have the problem of guarding the other teams PG. Neither Kobe or george can do that. Also I would put Bynum as the backup to both Mihm and Turiaf. Kwame should only play when the other bigs are in foul trouble. |

On offense:
PG: Odom
WING: KOBE
SF: George
PF: Cook
C : Kwame
On Defense:
PG: George
SG: KOBE
SF: Odom
PF: Cook
C : Kwame
I would go into a match up zone......Do we really have anything to lose at this point defense wise?
George is long and will have to do the chasing around of the little points..........But to a limit,a match up zone will allow the lakers to be flexible....... For 33 minutes, anymore than that will be impossible,as George will be fighting the foul limits......Sasha can replace him for 15.....
Kwame in the middle is our best bet for now (Until Bynum grows up some) defense wise, and thats where we need the most help,on "D".....I count any points he gets a blessing,it's the "D" and boards we need from him.....
Cook can get us 15 to 20 a night with a good 33 to 36 minutes, and I would hope a 7 to 9 boards, but that is probably wishful thinking......But with lamar getting 9 to 10 boards per game he helps off-set Cooks less than average rebounding at the 4 spot...
Lamar can get us 15,10 and 6 as he has in the past 4 games......I think with a match up zone he with Kobe and george are long and quick enough to do some damage.......At least better than what we have been getting.....
Mihm and Turiaf will have to fill in for Kwame and Cook, there will be around 33 to 36 minutes a game there for them combined.....they wil fight for those minutes....
I would love to see Bynum get at least 3 minutes of regular action per night, allow him more experience and better for his confidence......12 minutes would be perfect,but............PJAX has to make that call....
Smush can come in for odom and Kobe.......probably best fit for a reserve role......about 15 to 20 minutes a night...... a spark type of player if all goes right.....
Who knows.....but with George,KObe,Lamar,Cook we will have more than enough scoring....... And then with George,Kobe, and Kwame in the middle we can at least be better on "D"......

Who cares who starts, it is all about who finishes. The lineup you posted has seemed to finish some games lately, when it really counts. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

So i guess you're telling me that only 4th quarter is important. as far as I know the 3rd quarter is where this team struggles because of the lack of energy and I have no idea why. I think the starting 5 has some problems. |

I thank god that you're not the coach for this team, and I don't even believe in god.
Worst suggestion EVER. |

PG-D-Fish/Smush/Sasha
SG- Kobe/George/Spreewell
SF-Spreewell/George/Luke
PF-Cook/Turiaf
C-SHAQ/Mihm/Bynum
This is assuming we kept fish and still dealt Payton. Spree would sign if Shaq was still here and assuming Jerry stayed and was able to make Shaq and Kobe co-exsist.
Old but better than what we have now. Plus we do have the young guys. |

oh really? what do you suggest then? you must be happy with the Lakers? you must be joking.
I'm not trying to be a coach, these are merely suggestions. Our starting 5 has proved to be inconsistent in the 3rd quarter.

George is good at the PF position, do you want Cook instead who can barely catch up on his man?
Turiaf at center is arguable, we haven't really seen a lot of him yet, but last night he proved that even without Mihm and Kwame he can play D.
In fact he did better than those 2 guys with his energy. |

Sure why not.
Having a SF who is 6'8" at PF is a shrewd move for sure.
So is having a PF who had an open heart surgery a few months prior play as your starting C.
I see why you will be inducted to the basketball hall of fame.

I don't disagree with how well Rony played but he's a Power Forward and undersized one at that. George has never and will never see any minutes at Power Forward. hey Kobe is the same size as george why don't we put him at Power Forward. You see how that just sounds foolish. |

Big Height advantages aren't the key on winning basketball games, the Lakers proved that last night where they had small lineups without Mihm or Kwame and has been able to come back at the 4th quarter.
Just because Turiaf has a surgery you think he can't play? that's just a crappy claim. Phil wouldn't let him play in that case, but Phil did and with Turiaf in they made a good run.
Without energy, you might as well not play defense. That's been the issue on this Team. Don't you get it rookie? |

Devean George at POWER FORWARD?
And ditching our 3rd-best player in Mihm to sub in Turiaf?
I love me some Turiaf, and if you wanna make a case for him at PF that's
one thing - but Mihm is a lock for Center.
He's top-15 in virtually every category in the NBA among starting centers.
He's had 2-3 rough games because he's clearly hurting.
Ok I just HAVE to say it again.
Devean &(*()_*@$#(*()*#@$#@ George at POWER (@*#$(@$ FORWARD????
Ok your insanity is dismissed.
But you're not allowed to post on LG for 2 weeks.
Be gone! |

I know it was a great game for Ronny, but it was just one game. Let's see how he starts to handle increased minutes before annointing him the starter. Granted, I'm a big fan of his and can't stand Kwame - every time a ball bounces off his hands and out of bounds a little piece of me dies inside - but I want to see Turiaf get a little more experience under his belt first. |
