He's actually a pretty smart guy and has been spot on with a lot of his game analyses if you listen to his interviews and podcasts. Actually picked us over the Clippers last year.
So, I'll be the contrary one. The first, and it seems like only, reason most of those opposed to his interning on our great staff is mentioning his past. I'll be the first to say I haven't followed him, but if the only basis upon which he is rejected is because of his past, I'd look beyond that.
I've lived long enough to know that people change over time. What they once did or believe will probably evolve. Some of that past filled with regrets. To always have your past thrown in your face as the only reason you were denied is a bit judgmental.
With that being said, I'd still say no. The reason simply being he has to pay his dues, and just because he's an ex-nba player doesn't mean he can escape paying the dues coaches like Handy, Kidd, and Hollins have paid.
Go cut your teeth on a team a bit away from the top Gil. It'll be less demanding and you can determine if it's really for you. Oh, and btw, leave any F'n firearms at home come interviewing time!
He's trying to infiltrate and sabotage the Lakers. We don't need anymore coaches though.
Dude grew up in North Hollywood, he's a born Lakers fan. _________________ I believe that a triangle, if it could speak, would say that God is eminently triangular, and a circle that the divine nature is eminently circular; and thus would every one ascribe his own attributes to God. - Baruch Spinoza
Please, folks that say "why not" have a clue. This guy was trouble and brought a gun in the locker room....not good.
Jason Kidd beat his ex and hes allowed. I’d take Agent 0 any day. Dude was a killer and wants to give back. _________________ Naz Reid or Brooks Lopez are a must in the 2023 offseason!

idgaf about his locker room problems from over a decade ago but I still wouldn't touch him. I think we're doing just fine in the coaching and front office positions. He's a strong personality and with how well everything is rolling in our entire organization you don't risk that on an unknown because at some point there's too many cooks in the kitchen.
I think there's some potential in him though and he's not nearly as bad as some here are making him out to be imo. He needs to start on a g league staff or a small market franchise to get some time in and actually prove himself beyond some random ex player opinions though.

He was. He's been out of the league 8 years and may have matured.
I'd give him a shot over the summer. Let him intern with the SB Lakers next year. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".

Its one thing if it’s someone like Caron Butler, ex-Laker who did some analyst work with Spectrum Sports covering the Lakers. Arenas on the other hand, has no tie to the Lakers. _________________ Ringo "You retired too?"
