Latest news about our final roster spot has Lakers thinking of either signing a big to give AD less time at the 5, or signing a wing like Ariza to provide some wing defense.
So... what type of player gets it? _________________
I said a center, mostly in case of injury. I think we have more players who can fill in at wing, but if Gasol is out with injury or illness, we will want to have a backup big. Ideally should be somebody who can perform off the bench but isn’t expecting a lot of minutes.
They should wait to see who gets released or bought out...! _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”
Can they even sign a 15th player? I thought they were at the cap limit and could not sign another player until the prorated salary can fit. Not sure how deep into the season that needs to be for a min contract.
In a perfect world. A center! Prefer a more athletic big body type to fill in or even start over Gasol.
Harrell may have as long a standing reach as other centers but he does not play as "big" as I would prefer. Have not seen the defensive or rebounding presence as I was thinking.
Understand it was pre-season and we will see a different Harrell and team soon.
Just tough to adjust to the short turnaround as a fan too. We were just watching high intensity meaningful playoff games. Now I need to adjust to inconsistent effort and attitudes as they start a long season. Expecting to see it ramp up this week even if not the playoffs.
Would love to see a pogo stick type rim defender who can run the floor.
prorated min Lanny, who you have in mind? Dedmon?
I think he would be a great choice provided his attitude towards the role (unlikely to be in the regular rotation) is in line with what we need.
Just a guy who can maybe provide some of what McGee did. I think the ship has sailed for getting a guy who can bring what Howard did, we are going to need Gasol to step up. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny
I want that too, initially but he might have same quickness problem as Marc when facing younger athletic 7footers (at least what looks like in preseason)

Initially? Are you expecting either Marc or Pau to "work themselves " into improved quickness as the season progresses?

That would be cool to see!
Don't you know? All athletes get quicker once they turn 40!

yea man, I thought Marc wouldn't have problem handling an Ayton but he looked slower than I thought he would (thus Pau too), prob just preseason

Pau said he wants to be a contributor not just the 12th man on the bench. Idk if he would be ok getting Dudley mins. _________________ Tacos

for centers, we have dedmon who is probably waiting for a good opportunity
then there is mahinmi and tyson chandler with no job
wonder which ones could get cut
then the buyouts, no idea who could be available
my guess is we get ariza and a center - cutting cook when needed
Is Ariza even available? Thought he was on OKC. That would be cool to get him back. Always thought of him as a Laker even though he was only here for one playoff run. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
Tend to agree. You only get one ceremonial “leader” for the 15th spot.
Fans need to choose Dudley or Pau. Both is excessive.
Why does Dudley get to be ceremonial leader over a Lakers legend?
You are kidding, right?
Honestly I can not generate enough emotion to care with either one.
My point rests on the narrative from when Dudley re-signed. Mostly comments on how essential he was to the team chemistry.
Also from a practical standpoint, if the Lakers choose to add another center I would prefer they choose one with a bit more gas in the tank and capable of playing impactful significant mpg. At this point, the jury is still out on whether Pau can even run let alone play "Dudley mins" of 10mpg for 40 games.
Either? Both? Neither? I don't care, its the 15th spot on the roster. Surprise me!
