|
|
Quote: | Legendary college basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski has been in the business for nearly 50 years, so he knows a thing or two about the best players to ever come out of high school.
Coach K has recruited the best players, from Zion Williamson to Kyrie Irving to Shaun Livingston, he’s scouted them all. However, one player that never suited up for him stands out as the best high school player he’s even steen.
That honor went to the late, great Kobe Bryant. |
Quote: | “I never saw LeBron play in high school,” Krzyzewski said, “but when I saw Kobe play, he’s the best high school player I’ve ever seen. When he walked into a gym, he walked in like Jordan at a high school level. Like, the place stopped.”
Admittedly, missing LeBron James play at the high school level has to factor in here. However, that doesn’t take away from how great Kobe was when he suited up for Lower Merion.
Coach K even admitted that he didn’t really recruit Kobe because he knew Bryant was destined for the NBA.
“He looked that good, he believed he was that good, and he was that good,” Coach K said. “But, I knew he was never going to come [to Duke].” |
