Looks Like Tim Thomas May Go West
28th February, 2006 - 5:57 am
Newark Star-Ledger - Look for Tim Thomas to go West after his buyout from Chicago, the Newark Star-Ledger is reporting, after Bulls GM John Paxson told agent Arn Tellem that he is determined to give Thomas the money he has left on his $14 million contract and allow him to become a free agent, but only if Thomas subsequently signs with San Antonio or Phoenix.
Although no agreement has been reached between Thomas and the Bulls, the latter have the upper hand with the March 1 deadline just around the corner. Players who are not waived before Wednesday are not eligable for the playoffs.
So once again it comes down to money for Tim Thomas. Does he take a lower buyout in exchange for full freedom in choosing a new team this season, or does he take all the money and become a Spur or Sun?

Why would Paxson care which team out west Thomas signs with? Maybe he doesn't and the Spurs and Suns are the only west teams that have shown interest. I'd think Paxson would just say he can sign with any team that is not contending with the Bulls for a playoff spot.

Tim Thomas has been an unmotivated, lazy bum. After the buyout he'll be an unmotivated, lazy, coattail-riding bum. |

I think he'll end up in San Antonio. He'll give them more athleticism up front. |

Unless his new contract + his buyout = MORE than his original contract?
He'll sit.
He'll keep chowing on his corn-chips in front of the TV and we won't see
him in uniform this season.
Thomas is a lazy bum |

Easy choice, I pick the full buyout and a paid vacation for the rest of the season in either Phoenix or San Antonio. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Exactly, I'd take less money to go to one of those teams, not the Nets. Easy choice. |

Its though, he can go to the Suns or SA and rock the bench for a title, but he's still young, so 0 playing time sux for him, so he could go to the Nets where hed be either the starting PF or the 6th man, meaning more PT in an ECF contender. _________________ www.lakersbrasil.com

There's no such thing as an ECF unless your Miami or Detriot. |
