Had he taken the last shot in regulation and made it, Staples would've gone craaaazy!

I can't see him leaving the Lakers.

Staples center will prolong his career. His shooting there is just unbelievable.

Given KD has no interest in anything other than basketball, I can see him playing the current Melo role, to the same effectiveness, as a 50 year old.

Melo has been so fun and clearly a crowd favorite.

Now imagine having both him and Melo on the same team tho.

with bron out, do we start melo for spacing around WB? or we might tire Melo out? theoretically we should have enough firepower off the bench with monk and wayne?

100% don't start him. Melo is doing so well because he has zero pressure on him. Pressure from a different role will mess up his rhythm. All he's asked to do is come off the bench and make shots. He doesn't have to worry about nothing else. Not much more is expected of him. He's the epitome of a gunslinger. Lakers should not disrupt anything regarding when/how he's used.

starting 5 does NOT necessary = your best 5 players. this is why Bulls won all those chips with Cartwright and Lonely in the starting 5. have a good 6th man who embraces his role is very important too.

He's perfect in that spark plug off the bench role.

It's gonna be even better once THT and Nunn get back too.

I like the firepower off the bench. He plays better up tempo. In an ideal world Russ would come off the bench and tag team with Melo. Man, that's one why to turn a corner for us.

Why does it matter if Russ starts or not. The guy will still be playing 35mpg?… He’s in there with Melo a lot when Vogel staggers him and Lebron.

Our biggest issue so far this season are 3rd quarters and closing out games.

Doesn't really "matter" if Russ starts, but most of his minutes should be with the second unit. LeBron is better at running an offense and Russ can't play off ball.

Nah, but our closing unit should currently be RW, Reaves, James, Melo, Davis. Swap reaves with whatever bench player is hottest. Alternatively, scrap RW, put the ball in James' hand, and surround him with Melo, Davis, Reaves + one of Monk or Ellington.

What would this teams record be if not for Melo this season? It feels like most of our wins have been a result of a big night from him.

He is balling, there is no question about it. I admit to being wrong.

I would say 2 to 3 wins.

I am thinking in the back of my head if I should worry about the Lakers despite their start.

I mean Carmelo is still a star, you have Lebron Davis. Even if Westbrook ends up not being as good as expected, that is still 3 superstars

Same. With injuries and what not, he's been a nice anchor. He had that one terrible game but the whole team was bad that night. He's been simply amazing outside of that.
