We've got more playing time to offer...

Well, Delk would be my #1 choice, and according to that quote, I guess we're still not out of the running for him yet. But I expect him to sign with the Pistons - simply because they're the favorites to win it all this year. Not too hard to blame Tony on that one.

But I woulnd't mind Penny, IF he's healthy enough. If he is, I think he'd be a GREAT fit! The few times I've seen him play recently, his shooting and post-up game have impressed me. Penny still knows how to get it done, despite not being as athletic as he once was.

Brunson wouldn't be a bad pick-up at all. You want a veteran guard with a high B-Ball IQ? Then Brunson is your man. He's steady, professional, smart, plays strong D, hits his shots. He's not going to "wow" anyone, but he's as solid and as steady as they come. The guy knows how to play basketball.

Hey, I'm just glad we're actually trying to do something!

True. All 3 guys would be good additions. Delk #1, Penny #2, Brunsen #3. Delk will sign with Detroit, though, despite that line which may have been heard before Delk/Pistons agreed to terms, and since Detroit is expecting him to sign today (and the Lakers are also expecting him to sign with Detroit), sounds like they've reached their accord.

Penny has looked good when he's played and if healthy, he moves to the top of the list. Brunsen is nowhere as talented as the other 2, but he's a steady, heady reliable player. Did well with the Clipps last year.

"Sometime today, the Pistons expect veteran point guard Tony Delk to sign as a free agent, filling the team's vacant roster spot and adding some backcourt insurance."

EXPECT is a key word...

Will Bynum. No one they bring in at this point of the season is going to acclimate to the tri, so they might as well go get the best defensive stopper available.

For the LLE, I don't want the MLE being spent on another possible Divac or McKie...Maybe Kobe can make a call and convince him to accept the LLE.

I like Bynum too. He's an explosive little dynamo who can really score... but this team needs EXPIERENCED VETERANS. Not more young guys still learning the game.

And doesn't Boston have Bynum's rights anyway??

Well Penny can score... but ofcourse not playing (NYK) does lower your averages to nil...
Hgt 6'7'' Swingman DOB: 07/18/71 *35 this season
Career: 15.1pts/5.1 Ast/4.5reb ---

He is tall-aging guard who hates shaq...
So he sort of fits the bill... (Harper/Shaw)...

Not sure if he is the answer-but when no-one scores, I think he has a little gas left...

Let's play D. Green instead. He can bring as much as the others at this point in the season.

Green looks like he might make a good triangle guard. I would love to see Phil give him more minutes.

When looking for vet leadership, it is better to look at vets who have been through the playoff wars. When I think of those types of players, Penny, Brunson, and Delk don't come to mind. It is all about the future, play Green now.

Did they sign him and send him down? I know he played with the Celtics in the summer, but I thought he was one of their final cuts and signed with Roanoke as a free agent.

Anyway, unless Phil is going to let the second unit play outside the triangle (doubtful), any PG they bring in at this point is going to be a monkey wrench in the offense. That's why I say just go out and get the most defensively active 1 available (if he, in fact is): Bynum.

That tells us a lot about you. Mainly, that you have no idea what you are talking about.

Ventura, D.Green is a NBDL player, we bought him here because our bench is that BAD.

We need someone like JJ or Penny so when the Playoffs come we see some vet leader-ship.

Green was playing the triangle for the first time in the SPL. In the last few games, he has looked much better. Penny and Brunson are strangers to the triangle, I would still expect Phil to give Green more PT than he would them.

I agree about Green potentially filling the initiator role; in fact I think he's the closest thing to Pippen currently on this roster. He even has that terrible jumper Pippen had when he came into the league. But I've been shocked at how bad Green's defense has been lately (quite un-Pippen like), completely the opposite of his play in the summer and training camp.

Do we want Green's early-Pippen-like jumpers?
I don't care if Penny or Delk doesn't have any triangle experience, but we have to admit that Sasha and Smush are not consistent enough for initiator.

I'd love to get Brunson and J Jackson since Delk's off the table and dump McKie and Slava. It'd really bolster our G depth.

Penny, I dunno. He's got injury concerns and definitely isn't the same Penny as he was years ago. Plus, do we really want two former Snaq sidekicks on the same team?
