AVERY NOT PLAY - MONK PLAY

Per Goon

Lakers keep their starting lineup from last game. Avery Bradley is listed as out despite being out of protocols, which suggests he needs some more time to ramp up for play. Malik Monk is available.

RONDO IN PROTOCOL

Per Oram

The Lakers say Rajon Rondo has entered the health and safety protocols.

https://twitter.com/billoram/status/1475165299712221197?s=21

By my count, the only members of the Lakers original 15-man roster who have not been in the covid protocols at some point in the last month are Anthony Davis, Carmelo Anthony, Wayne Ellington and DeAndre Jordan.

Hopefully. He's out of protocol but didn't suit up the last game. Presumably because his conditioning wasn't quite there yet when they worked him out a bit before the last game. Hopefully he feels ret-ta-go by Tuesday.

A LIL FRANKIE V UPDATE

Per Goon

David Fizdale said Frank Vogel's status is all up to testing now. Health-wise, he's doing well, and he's "chomping at the bit" to get back to work.

BACK TO SOCIAL DISTANCED ANNOUNCING CREW

Posted in response to the Utah announcing team not traveling with the Jazz for the time being...

Per Oram

Confirmed that Lakers announcers will also not be traveling for their upcoming road games in Houston and Memphis. That means Bill and Stu on TV and @LAIreland and @champagnennuts on radio will be back to calling games remotely like all of last season.

COVID PROTOCOL CHANGES

Per Woj

Vaccinated NBA players and coaches can now clear quarantine after six days if Covid-testing data shows they’re no longer at risk to be infectious, according to a memo distributed to teams Monday and obtained by ESPN.

https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1475575903958802432?s=21

The NBA and NBPA agreement comes at a time when players are testing positive and heading into quarantine at an unprecedented rate -- 172 have entered Covid protocols in past two weeks, including a single-day high of 27 on Sunday.

https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1475576013438521348?s=21

This reduction in quarantine time is expected to immediately impact the status of numerous players who are already in the league’s health and safety protocols.

PLAYING CATCH UP - REAVES, VOGEL, ETC from today 12/28/21

Per Faigen

Fizdale says that Frank Vogel is getting "close" to returning, but tells
@billoram
he has no idea if anyone new will return for tomorrow's game.

"I don't know what tomorrow means... I don't make assumptions about tomorrow in today's NBA."

https://twitter.com/hmfaigen/status/1475976329208098818?s=20

FULL STATEMENT ON VOGEL AND REAVES (note at link)

Here were Fiz's full updates on Reaves/Frank/The Protocols

https://twitter.com/hmfaigen/status/1475981038736211968?s=20

(just vague-ness that Reaves is "close" and he doesn't know what tomorrow means regarding Vogel)

NO NEW ILLNESSES, PLEASE

Per Faigen (note with full quote at link)

David Fizdale admitted pregame that part of reason Wayne didn't travel with his non-COVID illness was just that the team didn't want to expose everyone to something else right now while they're already missing so many guys.

10th NBA game postponed due to COVID:
Quote:
Between the tweaked return-to-play policy and the new rule mandating teams to use hardship exceptions when multiple players are in protocols,
the NBA is aiming to avoid postponing games. So far, there have been 10 postponements this season:

Miami Heat at San Antonio Spurs (originally scheduled for Dec. 29)
Brooklyn Nets at Portland Trail Blazers (Dec. 23)
Toronto Raptors at Chicago Bulls (Dec. 22)
Washington Wizards at Brooklyn Nets (Dec. 21)
Orlando Magic at Toronto Raptors (Dec. 20)
New Orleans Pelicans at Philadelphia 76ers (Dec. 19)
Denver Nuggets at Brooklyn Nets (Dec. 19)
Cleveland Cavaliers at Atlanta Hawks (Dec. 19)
Chicago Bulls at Toronto Raptors (Dec. 16)
Detroit Pistons at Chicago Bulls (Dec. 14)

*Five coaches are in health and safety protocols: Mark Daigneault (Oklahoma City Thunder), Monty Williams (Phoenix Suns),
Chauncey Billups (Portland Trail Blazers), Frank Vogel (Los Angeles Lakers) and Billy Donovan (Chicago Bulls).

I thought Nunn had a bone bruise in his knee. Is there also an ankle injury?

Anyway, it seems weird that there has been so little news about Nunn other than the Covid protocol. We haven't even gotten a report that he is training (at least that I recall). At this rate, we might not see him until around the all-star break, if at all.

No that's a typo on my part and since I copy and paste I've just been copying and pasting that mistake so I'll have to go back and fix that.

But yes the radio silence on Nunn has been extremely odd. There's been no reports no video no nothing.
