Tony Delk signed with the Pistons. It's on the NBA page of ESPN. com. Oh well. Let's see if we can find someone else for our backcourt.

And after that talk about "just wanting to play".

Now he goes from Atlanta's bench to Detroit's bench. Have a nice ride on the coattails!

The hell with him! Get us someone who wants to work for his money and accolades.

not sure if anyone we bring in at this point is going to help us. I just pictured the new guy sitting on the bench spending at least 20 games trying to learn the basics. By then the season is over and we may or may not be in the playoffs. It would be nice to have some options other than Smush and Sasha but its what we are stuck with.

I think the role of a "PG" in the Triangle is the easiest. I mean it requires them to do the least amount of cuts and ussually it's a spot up situation.

Take Fisher for example. He was a good spot shooter and the offense came naturally to him.

I guess an extra 300K and playing time wasn't enough to sway him from a coattail ring. Oh well.

Meh, going by Mitch's luck in the past with free agents, Delk would have just been injured as soon as he donned a Lakers uniform.

Go to the Lakers, who might not make the playoffs, or the Pistons, who have a legit shot at the Finals. Tough choice, which one would you guys make? Me, I'm sporting a Pistons jersey.

And because he is going to the Pistons, it means he doesn't want to work hard and put out an effort? He will work much harder practicing against Billups than he would against Smush. The Lakers would have been the easy way out, not the Pistons.

Hello!!!! Really??!!! What are people so salty about?? If my name is Tony Delk, I just got released by the Hawks and Joe Dumars calls my phone and says, 'Hey Tony. Come play for me.' I'm a veteran. I've put in my time. I've paid my dues. Why in the world would I say no to an opportunity to win a championship?

given the mindset of today's player, it is actually quite surprising he went to the Pistons.. Todays player is all about the mighty dollar, and playing time.. most will say they care about a ring, but usually wont sacrafice Money or Pt for either. Being that was exactly what the Lakers had to offer, it is surprising he chose the Pistons.

I can't stand Mitch, but I don't see how you can fault him on this one. They tried, but Delk wanted a coattail ring. Not really much you can do at that point.

I guess you weren't around LG during the three-peat. The running excuse for the front office failing to sign released free agents was "No one wants to be considered a coat-tail rider for signing with the Lakers."

Don't players get a playoff bonus?

Is it > $300 for a bench player?

Gee, you really are not that bright, are you? Delk took less money to play for another team, yet somehow this is Mitch's fault? I say it is your fault for not coming out of pocket with enough additional capital to convince Tony to come here. You are a really incapable fan and should be fired.

Yea I was here, see sign up date. But it's different strokes for different folks. Delk is towards the end of his career so the pull of the ring was enough to sway him. Can't really fault him, or the Lakers, either way.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but would he make up the difference in pay that we could of offered him by advancing far into the playoffs and winning a championship?

If nothing else.. even if he doesn't get to play one minute.. do you know all the benefits that come with going that far into the playoffs

Free Tickets for family and friends
Free courtside seats for himself
Money from the league just for going that far ..

Possible Championship ring... etc etc

Would you give all that up to come and play with

Kwame
Mihm
Lo
Luke Walton

^^ etc etc

I don't blame him at all for signing with the Pistons. He's never won a ring, and he's going to a team who has an excellent chance of winning it all.
