If he has been released only today, then doesn't that mean he isn't eligible to be in the playoffs?

I didn't want him when he could play 3 or 4 years ago, definitely pass now.

I have no clue when that deadline was...

but if so, not exactly the classiest move by the suns; but it makes sense in a machiavellianway - they release a player they don't need, but make sure that he can't hurt them in the playoffs.

or, they were in disarray w/ Colengelo's resignation, and didn't take care of it in time.

If I'm Jim Jackson though, I look to sign with a division rival to get revenge on the Suns next season....

Yeah, I think that's correct. Today's the last day to add players who'd be eligible for the playoffs.

The only way I think they could add him is if they claimed him off waivers, which would make them responsible for his contract.

Actually we can sign him cuz he was WAVED on the deadline, the only thing that mathers is the day of waving, not the day of signing, since he was waved on the deadline we can sign him.

I think his 3 point shots wouldnt hurt us, just cut Slava...

- We're fighting for the 8th playoff spot.
- We're one of the youngest teams in the NBA.
- We need more expierence.
- We need more veterans - especially at guard.

So, we couldn't use J.J., WHY???

He's always been a "playmaker" - he likes to pass and he's always seen himself as a big PG. He's always had a strong post-up game. His defense is strong, and of course, he can shoot.

Sounds like a nice fit to me!

(of course, if it IS too late to add him, then I understand why)

J.J. is a better option than both Penny and Brunson. And yes, he would be playoff eligible. The player must be release/waived by today's deadline.

Nice use of the term "Machiavellian". I had lost faith that there was any intelligent life left on this board that wasn't wound tighter than a magnet coil.

If Jackson was in fact still playoff eligible, I think he would be a solid addition. He couldn't possibly provide less than Slava. However, if we're talking about who I'd like to sign this offseason, I'd prefer to re-sign Profit as opposed to giving Jackson a shot. I think we've lost a couple of games this year that Profit would have been the difference in.

Thats pretty random, I was just telling my friend last night that we need to pick up some guys like Jim Jackson next year instead of these young pups who are still learning. He would be a great pick up but Im still worried its too late. Phil coached teams rarely have a new guy come in and have impact

People have been saying he was washed up for the past 3 or 4 years. He then proceeds to go to a new team and help it (Houston, Sac, Phoenix). He can still play, and is probably the best candidate left for veteran backcourt help, why not sign him?

Because people want to bash Mitch all the time...if he somehow signs him, all the morons will say it was a bad signing. I think he is the best option. I don't know why people want Penny and Brunson, but not JJ.

If they can sign the guy, they should. He can't hurt. And he's always been able to shoot well. As long as that's all they use him for, he'd be a welcome addition. Don't expect him to handle the ball or run plays or distribute. Just pick a spot and wait for the ball.

Bad attitude or not, Mitch really needs to think about giving him an offer. He can be a very consistent scorer off the bench for us, and he's still a helluva shooter.

I agree. His numbers are way down his year? Has he been hurt, or is it he just can't break into the line up and his age is showing?

Does it hurt to pick him up for the reason of the season?

Also, ask yourself this,... JJ or Walton? Walton has one advantage, he knows the tri...

They need to sign him. This guy could give them some offense off the bench. He or Delk, who went to Detroit, would be nice. Sign him Mitch.

Are you nuts? Of all the players released, this guy is hands down the best. He's still got it and it's obvious you haven't been watching him play. Jim Jackson is the toughness and veteran hand this team needs. I hope we pick him up IMMEDIATELY.
