Are you nuts? Of all the players released, this guy is hands down the best. He's still got it and it's obvious you haven't been watching him play. Jim Jackson is the toughness and veteran hand this team needs. I hope we pick him up IMMEDIATELY. |
Absolutely agreed...besides, Jim still needs to add a Laker jersey to his NBA collection |

Yeah of course Joe Johnson would be a better option, but do you really think Atlanta would give up on him so quickly after trading so much and investing all that trouble getting him? |

We're still waiting on lots of things.
What is Grant Hill's status? He'd be a good stabilizing force on the Lakers next year. Off the bench for modest money. Wasn't Orlando talking about buying him out?
Before people jump on me for his injury history, I'm talking as a 20 minute per night guy. McKie's potential role, but actually useful. _________________ You tryin' to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball? |

Even if we signed him, he would never play. See: Mitch Richmond. |

Locker room cancer. He quickly wears out his welcome. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

According to the post about the Lakers looking at Peeny and Brunson...we could sign this guy and he'd still be on the play-off roster so.... |

Jim Jackson was a solid contributor to the rockets a few years back....infact he was a better player for them than some of the starters. I'd take him for sure. And his so called "bad attitude" never displayed. He was a team player...a hard worker...tough defender and a great scorer. And this guy can pass and drive as well. Veteran player who knows the game. Not sure why we'd pass on him. |

Luke is an expiring k after next season, no? HOPEFULLY Kwame's third year hasn't been picked up. That makes almost 10 million in expiring contracts AGAIN. So if Luke is on his way out, it would be great to find a veteran replacement for off the bench.
Combined with Lamar, that could make enticing trade bait. _________________ You tryin' to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball? |

I just dont understand why Phoenix would cut him? Its not like the Suns use much of their bench anyways. Hes been solid for them last year. My only explanation is JJ requested to be bought out so he could play for a more championship calibur team who would use him more.
sounds like a perfect canidiate for the *drum rolls*..... Heat.
Heat needs another veteran defensive minded small forwarded who can hit open shots.
However if we do pick him up, he would be a solid replacement for Devean George next year. _________________ Pain is temporary, at the end of pain is success... |

Considering how much money we're paying to have Brian Grant sit on their bench, we deserve him more than anyone else.
I really hope the Lakers brass is working triple time to make something happen here. _________________ BORN REBLE |

I'm assuming they're letting Jackson go so they can sign Tim Thomas once he gets released/bought out by Chicago. _________________ BORN REBLE |

Just as long as everyone realizes that Jackson can go where ever he wants. The Lakers could offer him everything possible, but it is still likely that he will sign with a team that has a chance for the Finals.

I haven't been following whats going on with him this season, but I checked his stats this year:
.295 FG%
Any good reason for that? _________________ BORN REBLE |

JJ is easily capable of filling the same guard role that was intended for Mckie. Infact he would be better at it. |
