Both of them probably will, which sucks because they should both still be with the Lakers

The decision wasn't AC or THT - the Lakers has the means to do both. You can argue it's AC or Nunn more reasonably

It was a huuuge mistake not to retain AC…wtf is wron with done if you guys.

Dude could have been retained on a sub-average NBA deal (ie 10m per) for 4 years with a potential upcoming NBA salary cap spike (ie rumored 75B TV deal in 2025).

His Bull’s deal is 30m guaranteed over 4 years (could be up to 37m if Bulls elect to guarantee the remainder of his contract in his 4th year aka 2024/25 season).

As our full bird player, we could have offered a 5 year deal at less than the NBA average. It was straight up a stupid decision since we know dude can play with Bron while he’s here and when Bron is gone, we still have him as an asset on a team friendly deal at a sub-NBA average price point with a potential cap spike on the horizon.

2021/22: 7m
2022/23: 7.56m (max 8% annual escalator as a full bird player)
2023/24: 8.16m
2024/25: 8.82m
2025/26: 9.53m (fully nonguaranteed)
= 4yrs @ a fully guaranteed amount of 31.5m with potential to make up to 40m+ over 5years. Again his Bulls deal guarantees 30m over 4yrs. Dude was also looking for 4yrs/40m and he had the potential to hit that type of bag over 5 years with us via his bird rights.

Ridiculously stupid asset management imho and done if y’all are trippin’ looking out for Buss’s pockets, as well as Rob/Kurt’s job status.

100% agree. Just ridiculous that an affordable player that plays so well and effectively with Lebron and defensively was not retained.
