Better Defense? Maybe we are talking about a different Sasha.

We have JJ exception : we could claim him off the waivers and he would play with us .

He'd cost only 3-400 K to the Lakers.

Another? You mean "A" shooter. LOL. I wasn't aware that we had a shooter.

Barry is smarter and has much more experience (including playoffs) than Sasha. He's also an unathletic tenacious defender.

What about waiving Green, Slava, and maybe even DG and picking up Jim Jackson, the Brunson dude, and Jon Barry...or change Brunson to Spree...that wouldn't be bad either....

Well, I'm not going to say Sasha is better, but Jon Barry hasn't played much on a team that is worse than the Lakers. If this were a championship run, then maybe I'd pick him up. But if the Lakers success hinges on whether they sign a washed-up gunner, than I think we're in deep trouble. I say stick with the guy who is developing - nicely, if I may add...

He's a streky shooter who can't play defense.

Well, we better sign somebody.
This is exactly what PJ was asking for - a veteran guard. Christmas in March!

And now, we've got three to choose from! And all 3 fit the bill in different ways, but I think ALL would be effective and productive.

My preference, in order:

1. Jim Jackson - he's the best shooter, the strongest defender. He's also the most rested and hungry to play... unless PHX knows something we don't.

2. Jon Barry - Streaky 3's and very unselfish. Love his scrappiness and hustle. Him, Devean and Ronny off the bench could be another sort of "Bench Mob."

3. Penny - If he's healthy, he's actually my 2nd choice. Super-passer and a very underrated shooter. He also has a very effective post-up game. I would love to see him run a fastbreak with Kobe on the wing. I don't know about his D, though.

The best thing is that they're all smart, "high B-Ball IQ" type of players who just know how to play. They can all catch-and-shoot, or shoot off-the-dribble (so they shouldn't struggle to find ways to score in the T) and they're all very unselfish passers. Defense might be a concern with Penny, but hey, you can't have everything.

We really can't go wrong with any of them.

Let's just hope get one!!

-- Oh damn, I forgot about Rick Brunson! He'd be a great fit as well! He's easily the most steady and the safest of the four. He'd probably fit in the easiest - personality/chemistry-wise.

Can't we cut Mckie and put another player on the IR ?

It doesn't look like Mckie is making it back anyway...

not true, he healthy right now.

All in all, Barry has missed 37 games this year, mostly due to injury. The last handful of those games saw Barry healthy, but Jeff Van Gundy did not call his number for reasons unknown.

We already saw him in P&G he couldn't do it as an outside shooter here, if memory serves. I think Jim Jackson would be a better fit for the Lakers.

When you say "DG", who do you mean? Devean George? How would adding Jackson, Brunson or Barry and subtracting Devean make us better?

Barry is a good fit just because he's a smart player, and would probably pick up the system fairly quickly.

and any of these guys is going to change the reality ofthis team? the lakers proved there gonna squeak by another season and see what happends. ther not gonna eat a contract (slava, mckee, etc) and pick up another player to rent for 25 games!

its a hard reality to swallow, but if the org really wanted to improve the team, they wouldve added someone already. dont get your hopes up, havent you've learned anything from Mitch and co? they're trying to save money..not win!
