Tonight was soooooo PATHETIC and the next week is gonna be BRUTAL I'm starting to wonder if the team would be better off with a bunch of losses now to drop down to the bottom 11 so we can keep our #1 pick and get in the lotto (again). Thoughts?

Good idea. This year's draft will be pretty deep too. We should be able to end up with a top-5 pick and a decent player.

Man, it's painful for me to say it, but the 40 win mark seems to be slipping further and further away. This all feels eerily similar to last season. It's too early to tank the season though. This team is just as capable of winning 6 in a row as they are of losing 6 in a row.

The fact that this could even be asked right now is pathetic.

- Its too late now, no way we end up in the top 10 worst record.

- This year's draft (outside of the top 5 picks) is one of, if not, the worst in recent memory.

This team can't afford to miss the playoffs. I think some fans would rather see them miss out and think that would spark the front office to make a major move (fire Mitch, trade for KG/Bosh, ect..). The truth is though, making or missing won't spark anything, because a team with Phil and Kobe can't rest on an annual 8th seed. I still believe this team will come together and make a push to get in, I just hope that Kobe still has enough energy in him to keep bailing this group out.

no way we tank...i do not care what people think..lets be honest...morrison might be good...reddick a great shooter..if we get either do they really make a huge difference ....no!
if we were talking about getting ogden than yeah...great lets tank and roll the dice but except for maybe sheldon williams who is no way a number 1 pick..who are we really drafting..
we make the playoffs but this team is so frusterating to watch night in and night out!

Too early to can, and even if we did, it's too late because there is no way we'll end up with one of the ten worst records. Plus, the Purple and Gold are too classy to do that.

I don't think we have the right coach for any lottery pick out there because it appears Phil Jackson would rather give worthless players like PUKE ALTON who does practically nothing but run around the court like an idiot rather than give rookies like Andrew Bynum, Ronny Turiaf and maybe even Devin Green more playing time to develop.

If this team loses Kobe, Lamar or Mihm for any stretch, it's lotto land. Given the weak draft and the pick we surrendered to Boston, you better hope that if we "Spur" the record, it's next season.

.500 going into the break.

3-3 since then.

.500 now.

What's different?

.500 still today gets us into the 8th seed.

Some people need to take a serious chill pill.

Do you really think Sacramento is going to sit back and tank with Artest? .500 does not get us the 8 seed.

If I remember right, that pick is only top 10 protected. We're currently #16 worst overall, so to get into the bottom 10 we'd have to drop 6 spots. That would take some serious losing.

The league looks for people trying to improve their draft position by tanking or sitting key players so it'd be pretty impossible to do without attracting attention.

I'd agree that it might take more than .500 to get the 8th.

But NOT by some drastic margin.

We can name 10 games where a basket would have won or lost us the
game.

Two of them have been since the break, where we're 3-3.

So we could be 5-1 without a whole lot of sway.

My point is, we have't been playing great since the break but people need
to stop acting like we're the worst team in the league.

We were a .500 team roughly all season, and that's still the case.

If we stay around that number then we have at least a SHOT at the 8th
seed, Sacramento or not, if we pull out just a couple extra games.

Tank the season?

Please tell me you're not supporting this guy's lunacy.

That was the Lakers of a few years ago.

Things change.

Look at the Clippers. They are alot better than us.

Look at the Knicks and Celtics. Teams with history that are doing worse than us.

How about the Blazers. They had one of the longest record in NBA history of going to the playoffs. Look at them now.

Just because the Lakers have this great history does not mean a thing.

If there was as Tim Duncan in this years draft we do what the Spurs did that year when Tim Duncan coming out, which is tank (hurts to type it, Laker Pride). I don't see a Tim Duncan in this draft so I wouldn't tank.

I don't think a team should ever try and lose. It sends the wrong message to young players. They need to learn to fight against all odds.

The thing that does concern me, if we do limp into the playoffs, is that Mitch will use that as an excuse to not upgrade the team very much. He'll say, "We are a very young team that is growing together and making strides. We made our goal of making the playoffs and with a little more time together we think this team can be more consistent."

That's not a reason to not make the playoffs... just a reason to FIRE MITCH!

The fact is, we're trying to lose now. We're garbage. I hope we make the playoffs, only because you never know how far you can get with Kobe on your team....but if not, DRAFT JJ REDICK!
