$2.5M well spent. McKie is probably somewhere in Hawaii kicking it back.

Mitch you're a genius. Two years in a row, wadting MLE on two players that contributed nothing...we could have had one of the young PGs, we could gotten Spree....I am smarter in personell moves than Mitch, and I'm not even a die hard basketball fan.

I was surprised that they finally admitted as much, as I thought they'd delay that announcement for another month. I think most of us realized his chances of coming back in any serviceable form were small. The repeated vague projections of him being a few weeks away suggested that something was wrong. Too bad... though I hated the signing, McKie was at least someone who might have inspired some professionalism.

I just wonder if the fact that Jeanie mentioned it was prelude to a signing. Brunson would have been solid if unspectacular, but it looks like he's Houston-bound.

Why did he even spend money on him, I could've told them that Mckie was out of gas. We didn't need a old beat up pg anyway. Just dumb.

Well now that one ANSWER, McKir is out for the season... maybe they can pitch Von Wafer as the next ANSWER when he comes back from the D-League.

In other news, Flip Murray continues to play well for the Cavs, even hitting a game winning shot for them tonight.

That was a good shot by Flip. He really bailed LeBron and the Cavs out as they were headed for their 6th straight lose. But I can't help but wonder why James didn't take a shot in the last minute or so.

So is McKie going to retire? Or will he try to play next season?

stat from sportscenter, before that game lebron had had a total of just 14 points in the 4th qtr of his last five games. terrible.

Kurt Rambis: Mitch, Aaron McKie's doctor just informed me that Aaron's done for the year.

Mitch: Whew. Glad I didn't waste the whole MLE on him. We saved 2.5 million dollars!

Kurt: Nothing gets past you, Kupster.

Mitch: Exactamundo, Jerry. Hey could you pass me that 2001 Street & Smith's annual basketball issue? I need to bone up for the draft. We're lottery-bound. Baby!

SGH

at this point the Lakers absolutely need to sign a guard, if only as a symbolic gesture that they haven't given up on the season. even if said guard doesn't get major minutes, I at least want Smush looking over his shoulder.

So Mitch basically gave him a 2.5 mill retirement grant this year... smart move.

I don't see how this is a Mitch problem. High basketball IQ veteran players are veteran because they're old and have played a lot. Old players break down and get injured. If anything this is a Phil "must have veteran players" philosophy problem.

Even with all of that, Divac for the MLE was a good signing if he doesn't get hurt and McKie for half the MLE is an okay signing if he doesn't get hurt. The full MLE would be overpaying and half the MLE allows us to spend it elsewhere. We can't predict injuries, and neither can Mitch.

AL.
