Spree wants a multi-year deal. I highly doubt we give him that. _________________ Everything. Changes. |

I prefer Penny over all of em. Get him and let him start if he's in game shape. 15-20 minutes is enough. Smush can back Kobe up at SG since that's his more natural position and Sasha can back up Penny. Close the game out with whichever PG is playing the best two-way game that night. _________________ Stephon Marbury on Kobe: "He's the only person on 'dis earth that can do 'dat. Any of them would be just making a move for the sake of making a move, so who cares which it would be? _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

No, Ventura, one of those guys would actually HELP. We desperately need a veteran presence on that bench, who plays with fire and intensity and doesn't get flustered. I don't get how you could think waiving Slava and adding one of those guys, isn't an improvement.
As for my choice, it would be Jim Jackson and it's not even close. Can't believe 50% of you are choosing Jon "I play no defense" Barry. In case you hadn't notice, the lack of toughness and defense on the perimeter is KILLING US. Jim Jackson can stroke it, but more than that, he's a tough, gritty veteran who can defend. We need right now in the worse way. I like Barry, too, but come on. Like we need yet another player whose idea of great offense is to jack it up from 3pt. range. I know he can hit it, but we have enough focus on the 3pt. line as it is. We need guys who will attack and are physical.
In essence, we need some dam toughness (mentally and physically) on this soft squad. |

I disagree.
We need more EXPEIRENCED players on this team. Period. We are just way to young and "green."
Smush's play last night makes it even more obvious that we are in DIRE need of a stable, highly-expeirenced VETERAN guard. Not necessarily a superstar or anything like that - just a smart, steady, VERTEAN guard who understands the game and won't make the dumb mistakes our young guys keep making. _________________ Everything. Sprewell, then Jackson. Both of those have the capability to score when needed. |

None of the above because the Lakers are too slow and stupid to try and aquire one of these players. |

Jim Jackson first
Hoiberg second (a 48.3% three point shooter last year (LINK))
Penny Hardaway third. _________________ They're/You're/It's = They are/You are/It is; Their/Your/Its = Possessive of They/You/It; There = the adverb (like over there).

I would prefer Jackson or Penny over Barry, just because we go through spots in the game where no one even looks to score besides Kobe. Barry is more of a sit back and wait for scorring oppourtunities where Penny & Jackson are looking to score and make things happen. At least they use to be, but I haven't seen much of either one of them the past season. _________________ "Kobe Bryant is an absolute nightmare. JJ would be someone you could rely on to bring some veteran leadership, some consistent scoring off the bench, and just a heady player. We seem to lack intelligent players who can make plays or just HIT A SHOT CONSISTENTLY. Though, I do have doubts that he would even want to play for the Lakers...he spurned us once, and I don't see why he wouldn't do it again.
Realistically, Penny is the guy to be had. It's just a matter of health. IF he's healthy, and that's a HUGE if, then he can make an enormous contribution to this team. I can just imagine a healthy, in-shape Penny creating plays for Kobe. |

I noticed that despite the thread title, voting for Sprewell wasn't an option.
Just as wekk since i don't see that happening anyway and read that the lakers had already tried.
Barry himself questions his physical ability to contribute in articles i read (houston chronicle I think). I've heard nothing about what shape penny is in.
So that leaves Jimmy jackson. I've also read opinions that he's got nothing left in the tank -- but that was from a sportswriter -- so its real informational value is questionable.
Right now though, Jackson is my vote since I believe he'd have the ost impact. I would have like to have seen him signed a few years ago. If anything, he's had a career of jumping into new situations and contributing. _________________ BORN REBLE |

Jackson. He seems to have the highest basketball IQ because he has played in so many different systems. |

1. Jackson (you know that cocky mofo wants to bust in LA)
2. P. Hardaway (He could find success in the triangle even at his age)
3. J. Barry (I think he'll jell Turiaf and George and will bring some more energy off the bench) _________________ Kevin Love. 2015. |

Anyone remember when Jon was in P&G uniform back in late 90s? He was pretty useless then.
Jim Jackson and Jon are both 36 and 37 years old, respectively. I think they would only be good for about 10mins a night, which might not be a bad thing given our situation.
I actually like Brunson. He played pretty well for Clippers last season and he fits our needs. |

Jim Jackson - Best player of the group at this point.
Jon Barry - Best fit of those players.
Either of those two would be fine by me.
Penny - Brittle, old, missed 400 games in 6 seasons.
Spree - Cancerous attitude, out of basketball shape, old.
Brunson/Eisley = Scrubs. Don't even deserve to be in the discussion. |

Agreed. Once Jim Jackson became available, I was leaning more into choosing him, although Barry is a favorite of mine. In any case, is Mitch still capable of getting a deal done? _________________ #2 Lonzo

Id shoot for Jackson.............gritty veteran who loves to play defense and has as good a jumper as anybody on this Laker team. He could offer a good 20 mins a game. Dude just wasted away on that Suns bench.
Thing is, HE WANTS TO PLAY........we need somebody other than Kobe on this team with serious HEART.
Dont hold your breath...........Mitch aint lookin at him. Guaranteed.
THIS SUCKS MITCH !!!!!!!! |
