It seems like the team is lost out there on offense. They are so busy pointing at each other up and down the floor that they are never in a good position to rebound.

Maybe its time to play pick and roll like the rest of the league.

The shot clock is at 10 seconds before they look to Kobe to bail them out with some crazy fadeaway jumper.

With the bulls and the 00- 03 Lakers the offense set up much quicker even with Shaq dragging his butt up and down the floor. Do we need a new system or smarter players?

That would help.

This team has a low Basketball IQ.

Not as low as Vince Young's 6 on the Wunderlic, but not too much basketball smarts.

Smarter and more talented for sure. At the same time, we all know it takes a good two years to ramp up with this system, so we'll see.

The Lakers learned quick in PJ's first year because PJ dumbed it down and departed a great deal from the triangle to better incorporate and use Shaq's talents. We just don't have that level of talent or smarts anymore.

That's my point if the triangle takes that much thinking and takes so long to learn maybe its a hindrence. There's no flow, no reaction, too much thinking to be effective for the young players.

I don't think that intelligence is missing.

We need players with desire and heart. Players that will give effort every game.

After the players have been in the triangle together since October, shouldn't they be more adequately adjusted to the system and to each by now to not be making stupid mistakes, especially against lesser competition? This record is pretty broken by now.

I think it's a limbo time we are in......last season, this season and most probably next season.....a holding pattern until the "Dream FA of 07' and Bynum grows up......Then we can get back to what the lakers are really about......

Until then I would go with the best fit for the triangle.......Kobe,Odom,George,Cook,Mihm.....with kwame,Bynum (A few minutes for confidence and maturity)Smush off of the bench,oh and of course Turiaf, love his passion and zest.........Go into a match up zone "D"....at least give it a try, anything is better than the "D" or should I say non "D" we play most of the time.....

But for the most part I would just go into a "BRIANGLE'....let Kobe loose.........into strike mode, and pick and choose what he wants to do and when he wants to do it......really we have nothing to lose at this point.....There is no other "sudden magic turn-around the season button" to be seen.......

When players have to direct other players where to be and where to go, then the intelligence is missing. You would think that, after 5 months since training camp, the players would be more proficient.

Maybe Phil should "dumb down" the offense.

However, it's the defense that has been sorely lacking of late.

I agree, It seems they are so confused on their offensive sets they are taking bad shots and allowing run outs on the other end.

quit toking purplehaze....triangle works

If we keep LO at SF, we need to get a legit PG who can shoot consistently, which are hard to find.....

we just need players who know how to play...players who can finish layups, can hit a mid range shot, can hit an open shot, can defend a pick and roll, players who know how to maintain the the shot clock, can box out, can put a hand up when defending, the list goes on....

In the next draft, I hope we draft a player from a good well coached background.

I hope this summer we trade for a guy like Carlos Boozer.

Me too, you have to be smart to play the triangle and Kobe is but Kwame and some of the our other guys just don't have what it takes to make it work.

that's wut bothers me the most about this team.. such low basketball iq. sometimes they make mistakes that just make you scratch your head. how could they be THIS stupid.

lamar, kwame, smush - dumbest trio of starters in nba history, imo. at least up there.. top 5.

If you hire the most successful coach in NBA history, you let him run his system. When you have the ultimate triangle player in Kobe, you run the triangle.

Wisdom is innate

it cannot be taught

but 10 million for Kwame?

Damaged goods we have bought!

Do we need smarter players for the triangle??

Ummm, YES!!

Does anyone see Ronny Turiaf struggling out there?? Like Kobe said, Ronny already knows the system better than guys that have been here all year long.

If you understand the game of basketball, you can play in the triangle offense. It's all about proper SPACING, moving without the ball and READING THE DEFENSE. The more you just play off your natural basketball INSTINCTS and read the defense, the better you play in it. Simple as that.

Exactly. That's part of the reason why PJ has his bias with college players. They are taught that at a basic level in college.

Still, nothing frustrates me more than the fact that some of these guys have played 3-6 years in the league and don't understand basic concepts.

I do understand this is a process, and the Lakers are a young team, but I don't see the motovation to learn and play hard every night except for the rookies, Sasha, and Bryant.

I'm growing real tired of players being late to their spots in the offense, not setting proper picks, and poor triangle spacing. I wish I could have a front row seat like I did at the SPL to yell at the players just to tell them where to go.

A lot of us would like to tell some of the players where to go.

One problem with this team's version of the triangle is that the distance between Kobe's knowledge of it and the ROT's is 100 light years apart.
