Amen - his time in the P&G was too short. I really appreciated his effort night-in, night-out.

I fell in love with Karl when he became a Laker
The whole thing about him saying he would give up winning a championship, for Kobe to come out ok from the trial, was classy, beautiful, and made me cry
I was so upset with Kobe for reacting like that, but i guess he had to do what he had to do (regardless of how I feel about the situation)

They were my version or Nelly and Tim McGraw(spell check)

As much as I love Kobe
I just don't think that Kobe is mature enough to reach out to Karl, right now!

Man, that's nice to hear from Karl.

I sure wouldn't mind bringing him in specifically to coach (i.e. TOUGHEN UP) Kwame!!

I completely agree with that

The saddest thing is Karl would be our second best player right now even at the age of 42.

Anyways very classy of Karl. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Karl, even when he was the enemy. Why? Because the guy is a warrior and plays like few others - Kobe, Iverson, KG, Artest are a few of the handful of players that leave it all on the court every night.

We could use a young Karl Malone right now. Karl wasn't terribly athletic, but he was amazing just the same.

One thing about Karl Malone is that he will say what is on his mind and he is real. For the most part, I don't care for him because of all of his years as a dirty player, but of course I cheered for him when he was with the Lakers. Even if I don't like him, I still respect what he says when it comes to basketball. I can't say the same about Barkley.

He was the last of the 'old-school' players. I miss the attitude/style of play from back then...

I can't agree with that.

Kobe is mature enough , but he can't do anything about this thing without his wife's consent.

I hated him for years and then he came to the Lakers and I slowly grew to love the guy. He became one of my favorite players of all time. Hard worker on both ends, sturdy leader, totally fearless, team player, etc. Love him. Wish he would/could come back. Even after the Kobe debacle he comes out and has nothing but good things to say. Dude is all class.

Kobe had to back up his wife no matter if Karl was his friend. I feel sad cause that was just a terrible circumstance. Karl was kidding and Vanessa took it the harsh way. Kobe after cheating on her had to stick with her no matter what. Or wound up losing her. So it was Wife or best friend. Tough choice

You know what... Sadly a HEALTHY Karl Malone would still probably be better than what we've got, even at 42 years of age.

Think about it, Jabbar kept in great shape and played until 42 years of age. Karl kept in at least as good of shape as Jabbar did.

True dat. I still think all the injuries we had that year was the real reason we didn't win, because it prevented us from building chemistry with Karl (and also Payton).

Karl is part of an unfortunate chapter for the Lakers. It almost was a Championship. The team also might have stayed together had it not been for the loss.

Yup. He was the 2nd best player on a team of 4 hall of famers, so of course he'd be the 2nd best player on THIS team . Karl was the glue that held that team together. Oldest player to ever rack up a triple double.

Maybe this was Karl's way of reaching out to Kobe and putting the past behind him. I'm sure Karl knows his words will get around to Kobe some way or another.

I remember when their feud became public, the reasoning was Karl was not pleased with some of the things Kobe said in a radio interview (Kobe said Karl was being disrespectful for taking so long to decide if he was going to re-sign, or something along those lines). So these guys do communicate through 3rd party outlets.

I will never forgive Karl for what he did to Magic.
