I keep hearing about Darko "The Human Victory Cigar" Milicic, but I have no idea what this one is about. Anyone have any ideas?

As for teams:
“Phi Slamma Jamma” was my favorite
“Run TMC” (Golden State Warriors)
“BMW” (Blanks, Mays, Wright from U of Texas in the late 80s or early 90s)
“Showtime”

It should also be noted that the Rhode Island School of Design is the “Nads”
Southeastern OK State is the “Savages”
Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio is the “Student Princes”
Trinity Christian College is the “Trolls”
And there are 9 college teams named “Lakers”

They called him that because they'd never put him in until the game was effectively out of reach. Essentially like lighting up a victory cigar.

Also:

"The Big E" - Mark Eaton

John "Spider" Sally

Robert "The Chief" Perish

Thanks for the answer - makes sense.

As for the Big E, makes me think of his teammate, Big T, Thurl Bailey.

Eaton was an absolute monster, size-wise. 7'4", and wide. In '85, he averaged 9.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.6 blocks per game. Those numbers don't exactly jump out at you (except for the blocks), but he won the defensive player of the year. 456 blocks on the season. He blocked 14 in a game against Portland that year. This was Stockton's rookie year, and I think Dantley held out for a long while before joining the team too.

Of course, LA won the title that year in Boston Garden too. ahh, the 80s, my favorite decade for basketball - college and pro.
